3 - He's had three nicknames during his NFL career. With Buffalo he was known as Fitzmagic and the Amish Rifle. Fitzmagic because of his 5-2 start with Buffalo in 2011, and Amish Rifle because of his impressive beard. Last year with the Texans, his nickname was "the Lorax", from Dr. Seuss. 5.7 - He is one of the league's most mobile quarterbacks over the last decade. He's got a 5.7 career average yards/carry. His official NFL career rushing average is 4.6 and was the first Harvard QB to rush for 1,000 career yards. 9 - The most games he has ever played against one opponent is 9, against the Jets. 7 of those 9 he started, with a record of 1-6. 21.7 - His TD drive percentage last year with Houston, based on 28 TD drives in 129 possessions, slightly better than last year's league average of 20.1%. While not great, the offense was posting 23.3 points/game, the best season average for the Bills in the last 10 years. 48 - His Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test score he took in 2005. This board used to celebrate he was the Bills QB and now we want to pretend he's a good QB. We're a bunch of battered wives who sing our new boyfriends praises because he only slaps us rather than giving us the full knuckle sammich.
Good Post, but unfortunately the numbers don't convince me. "Fitzmagic" just simply stinks. He's better than Geno though.
I can't speak for everyone but for me I'm just happy to have someone who is an average nfl qb. The alternatives on the roster blow.
average? im happy for "not one of the 3 worst qbs in the NFL" or "not the worst qb of all time with 50 or more starts"
Hey, that's my avatar...... but while I think it was a good move to grab him, I don't see how ANY JETS fan can be excited if he wins the job after watching all these years on the Bills
I don't think Fitzharvard is anything special but the comments about team stats like record and playoff wins seem stupid. I mean do you think Tim Tebow is better than Fitz?
he's nothing more than a stopgap, the hope is Geno has improved and he beats him out or we have Mariota/Winston fall and they develop behind him. if we are counting on Fitz to lead us to postseason we will be disappointed.
Many of you have far more football knowledge than I do and maybe (probably) I am suffering battered wife syndrome but the sad fact is, he will have more TD's than turnovers and maybe that is not enough but I will take it.
I dont expect him to be the savior of this franchise, but if he can do what he did last year, we will be fine
