I dont know about you but i am hoping he ends up being the greatest coach that has ever or will ever coach the game of football
if we "settle" for white, cooper, or fowler i wouldnt be upset. id be excited with any of those or mariotta. take the WR and all of a sudden our skill players went from crap with no depth to a ton of talent with depth and long term pieces take fowler and we just added a stud OLB pass rush that already has an elite dline and secondary obviously mariotta would give us a potential qb we have searched for there is no real wrong pick at #6... its not like we'd draft a CB
The money and years we are giving Cro looks pretty bad right now but still have to wait on the guaranteed. If the first 2 years contain almost all the guaranteed money then I am fine with it. 4 years for Cro is kinda scary.
we were 6th in the nfl in sacks and 8th in qb hurries. that was with the worlds worst secondary. getting a pass rusher would be icing on the cake, but its not like we cant get to the passer now
im interested to see what coples can do under bowles, and if he will lineup differently. he may just be a player. either way, i wouldnt be upset to see vic beasley or fowler on this team. those guys get after it
Agreed, the only move so far i dont like is trading for fitzpatrick, i feel he would have been released and we could have signed him without losing a pick. but thats minor.
i dont want shorts... he had some injuries and it seemed to really hamper his play making. he has really dropped off after his one explosive year where he had all those long touchdowns
I know Shorts has injury history but if the Jets think they can get him on the cheap I'd do it, he's not going to be a starter he'd be a slot and gadget player and good depth in case Marshall gets a boo boo, Marshall/Decker/Shorts/Kerley would be a pretty sick WR group I'm not expecting us to run the ball a whole lot since we haven't bothered to address blocking TE but maybe we'll find one in the draft late
The explanation I heard is that since they only had to give up a 7th (at the best a 6th if he plays a certain no. of games) and since his salary is pretty low for a potential starting quarterback (in the 3's) Mac thought it was worth it. Not a big giveaway for a Qb with his experience. Plus the guy's stats were improved when he took over for Mallette last season.
I guess I dont like the idea of getting a guy with some injury questions and having him as depth. i want my depth guys to be guys i can rely on to stay on the field. Marshall/Decker/Shorts/Kerley is a pretty solid group... i can also envision every one of them missing 4 games.
We do have a few guys like Salas and Owusu who are decent: both guys when given the chance made plays last season. But Shorts has a lot of experience and more cred than either of those guys. I'm not totally sold on Jace Amaro but I do like Cumberland. Marty underused the tight ends last season. Of course Clay with Miami is better than both of those guys. The Fins are having problems signing him because Tanny gave all of the money to Suh.
