He's the best player that has ever worn a Jets uniform and arguably the best NFL corner ever, although there are period arguments between him and Deion that are difficult to sort out. Sanders never had his technique or discipline, but he had instincts that nobody will ever match.
This proves how bad Idzik was last year and how bad this deal is. We could of has Revis at 5 years for $60M last year and kept him from the Pats. This year we give him a 5 year $70M deal. Over paid for him, just cause Woody wanted him back. They should have just done the deal last year.
No use getting upset about last year. It's ancient history. The clowns have been dismissed. This is a new era where adults who understand football are actually running the team. And our best player ever is back!!!! What a week!!!
He's also the only player in the NFL that actually wanted to be on the Jets. Bitter now but Revis certainly was key in getting the Patriots their 4th ring.
Lol bitter my ass you are just acting like a jerk. If my team had just lucked out and won a championship I wouldn't care what players they brought back, especially if we had a first ballot HOF QB, but then again I guess I don't understand the grade school sense of entitlement that Pats fans always have. Suck it man you didn't get to play with your new toy anymore, screw off
Just because he signed basically a 1 year $12 million a year contract last year doesn't mean he would have signed a 5 year $12 million a year contract. There just isn't anything to support your claim.
So, does Revis actually plan on showing up to training camp this year, or is he going to hold out again?
The deal is front loaded and that's where the problems with dealing with Revis have come in the past. He gets most of his money early and then screams bloody murder that he's getting underpaid. And holds out. Not sure in those final 2 years if he's still playing at high level he would accept that 11 per season.
There's not a chance in hell he plays past year 3 without a new deal. Hell, he may not even play past year 2 unless we fully guarantee the third year.
Never mind the last 2 years he will probably want to renegotiate in year 3 considering he's only due for 6M guaranteed. If he's still playing at an elite level he'll definitely want more guaranteed.
The problem with a backloaded contract at this price range is if Revis goes and gets badly hurt again. Then you've got a lead block sitting on the salary cap for the next five years instead of two. The holdouts are annoying but the Jets are taking a smaller risk by going this way.
