Colon's pass pro was actually pretty good, and graded out better than Carpenter even. maybe less penalties? Boling was the guy imo... we need lunch pal, physical, head smart guys on our line. going against Dareus and Suh 4 times a year, i'm not confident yet on our oline.. is there an OT we can upgrade with?

I must say, - that when comparing the surface information of the 2 contracts; James Carpenter === 25 years old ==== 4 years ==== $ 19 million ===== $4.75 million per season Clint Boling ======= 25 years old ==== 5 years ==== $26 milllion ===== $5.2 million per season I would have rather they gone after Clint Boling (Boling was in my mock offseason, of course). I hope I am terribly wrong 2 years from now.
I'd have preferred Boling as well, but maybe Boling planned to stay with Cincy all along, had no interest in signing with the Jets, or maybe the Jets think Carpenter is better. Then again, after failing on the top two OGs, maybe Mac was afraid he'd fail with #3 as well, and rather than face that, went after the #4 OG thinking he could at least lock him up so he's have something to show for his efforts. Kudos to you for hoping you're wrong. That'st he way I am. I know I'm very opinionated, but I would ALWAYS rather be wrong and the Jets' FO, GM and HC be right. I just don't "fans" who would rather be right and see the team suffer, than be wrong, and see the team do well.

NFL network aired a condensed cut of Seattle v. Dallas week 6 tonight. I only caught a handful of Seattle offensive plays, but Carpenter looks like a turnstile on more than one occasion, resulting in instant pressure in Wilson's face the moment he plants his back foot. Wilson smartly gets rid of the ball for an incompletion before getting hit, but if that happens to Geno it's a sack for sure and probably a sack fumble TD. It had to be that Boling had zero interest in coming to NY.
not encouraging. but, boles was the dc in Arizona last year. so, he should be familiar with carpenter. I figure he must see something, or else he would have told the front office to pass on this player.
Great to save on cap for this year. Maybe we will be able to get one last fa. I heard he started playing better when he went to LG.
Supposedly Carpenter really excels in power blocking schemes as opposed to what the Seahawks ran (a zone blocking scheme.) Since we will likely be running the former, this may be a good pickup.
