so make up whatever you want then, obviously since there's mutual interest the thread title should say "Jets to sign Hoyer." dipshit.
The contract it would take to get Hoyer would guarantee he was at least the Jets backup QB for the next 3 seasons or so. Is that really where we want to go with Geno on the roster? Geno looks like the guy most likely to be the backup for the next 2 or 3 seasons at this point. If the Jets sign Hoyer and then neither he nor Geno is good enough to start they've got a glut on the roster at backup QB and given Hoyer's likely contract an expensive glut. I'd sign Moore before Hoyer because at least he will be at a normal price for a backup. If Fitzpatrick became available I'd sign him over either of the other guys because of familiarity with Gailey and the fact that he is a better QB than either of them or Geno.
This is a sick, sad and sorry QB group and almost anybody we end up with is hot garbage. That said, I think I'd rather we looked at Matt Moore. I get the feeling somebody might give Hoyer that dippy Matt Flynn money. I'd rather that somebody not be the Jets.
Amazing we have so much cap flexibility and this is the kind of qb options were chasing. We need to do something bold, all these fa qbs suck and barely better than geno. There just older. I'd rather bring sanchez back if this is the plan
Because you've forgotten how he played for the Jets? He was handed a playoff bound team last year at mid-season with the Eagles and he lost 3 games in December and they missed by 1 game. Sound familiar?
like I said in the other thread, Hoyer is absolute garbage. Matter of fact, if its Geno or Hoyer in camp, I GUARANTEE Geno wins the job. 100%
They rank Sanchez as the #1 QB in FA which tells you just how bad this is for teams like the Jets who desperately need one now.
I think the idea that the Texans sign Hoyer and Fitzpatrick floats loose is both most likely and most appealing of all the options so far.
I did not say he was amazing.. I'm pointing out how weak this FA class of qbs is.. Not one appealing guy. If my choice are between all these guys, might as well bring sanchez back. One of them have ever done anything
The fact is hoyer is one of the better qbs I'm free agency That's how bad this qb market is this offseason
If they sign any of these trash QBs in free agency I hope it's a 1 year deal. They all suck. Id rank Mallett as the one i would most like to be brought in just because he could still develop. Hoyer and Fitzpatrick both suck, id rather see geno smith than waste time with them and Sanchez is probably the best of the crop sadly but that bridge is burned
To bring Sanchez in you need to have a good offensive line with no gaps, at least 2 good WR's, a couple of good backs so that if one of them goes down you still have a running game, etc. He may well find his niche on a good team down the road but he isn't going to find one on a mediocre team. He doesn't do anything to raise the level of play on offense and so you need to have other guys to do that while he manages the thing.
