Josina Anderson of ESPN reported on the market for Hoyer, saying the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers have expressed interest in the signal caller. Anderson went on to report that "the #Texans & the #Jets r @ the forefront of [Brian Hoyer's] mind bc they give him the best opportunity to start." Thoughts?
Already being discussed in the offseason thread. Regardless, he sucks. I would rather have almost every other QB on the market and Fitzpatrick.
I like it. His perceived value is a lot less than his actual value because the media slandered him, Johnny starting made a way better story for them so they had an agenda. He had that Browns team at 7-4 with an atrocious receiving corps and an AWFUL offensive line with no Mack. His struggles actually started when Gordon came back; it seems like the coaching staff was making him force it to him and Gordon was obviously not prepared, as he was running wrong routes and miscommunicating, which led to Hoyer getting picked off on numerous occasions. I think this would be a good move.
Unless he has been working out ALL off season building himself up no thanks since he collapsed say after week 12 last year
I'm opposed to this potential move. Watching him I don't see a guy who is underrated. I see a guy who is in over his head and was fortunate to go on a nice little run at the beginning.
Brian Hoyer is one of many shitty QBs available in FA. Obviously not gonna solve our QB issues but the position has to be addressed in FA with nothing of quality available.
Many a NFL player takes time away from being a gym rat & since he tired after 12 games or so last year he must fall into that status as being a non gym rate. Oh yes IMHO he is a grade D QB in any case
Decent move. Hoyer provides competition for Geno and he's a guy that can hold down the position if he has to start.
thoughts? I think that the Jets being at the forefront of Hoyers mind is different than the Jets being at the forefront of signing him. They mean two different things but slightly adjusting the actual statement will get more clicks and so that's what you do every time you make a thread.
Agreed. There's no indication that the Jets themselves are interested. Definitely agree. This crop of FA QBs isn't really promising, and Hoyer doesn't provide anything over Locker, Davis, or any of the other arms that will come for (most likely) cheaper contracts, especially Davis at 1yr/1.5M.
No interest what-so-ever: @Adam Caplan As mentioned last night, Hoyer has two teams interested in him for opportunity to start: #Texans and #Jet http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/03/jets_brian_hoyer_of_cleveland_browns_have_mutual_i.html
Hoyer looked horrible at times last season. Also looked halfway decent early on. What was weird about his season was he played well when Cameron and Gordon were out. As soon as they came back he went downhill. So who knows? I like him a lot better than Sanchez, McCown, Cassell etc
i'm ok w/signing him depending on the terms of contract. If he is making 5 million/year we are in trouble.
