Well they've been analyzing the hell out of them, but I haven't seen anyone on ESPN or NFL Network say that either of these guys is in the class of Luck or Manning. They call them good prospects, but each with major flaws. I think the Bridgewater comparison that some people on here are making is a good one. Both Mariota and Winston are that level of prospect I think, the kind that usually go in the mid-late 1st round area. But teams are so desperate for QB's each year that sometimes average prospects end up going in the top 10. Christian Ponder and Jake Locker come to mind as major reaches who both went in the top half of the first round in weak QB drafts.
Perfect answer. If we get one of those six I would be vey happy. I would go MM, White, Cooper, then D
If we do go defense first round, we're taking a pass rusher. I guess we can blame the game of football for inherently pitting the defensive front 7 against the quarterback and offensive line
Depends on what we do with all this cap space in free agency. If we go out and get a few premier play makers on offense in free agency, I wont mind one of these edge rushers in draft
Rich and Wilk have high ceilings but no way are they both top 3 DLs. And that last group also got us Wilson, Milliner and Coples in the first round, hardly BPA
My top 7 right now 1. Marcus Mariota/Jameis Winston 3. Amari Cooper 4. Dante Fowler 5. Bud Dupree 6. Kevin White 7. Randy Gregory we're gonna walk away with a stud either way this falls
No Beasley? The only thing that was pushing Vic down was size concerns. He solved those at the combine, and was already the most talented rusher in the draft. Now we know he can physically match up. I would put Beasley over every other pass rushing prospect at this point, but I also really like Fowler.
He's 9 on my board, Devante Parker is 8 I love Beasley though just think Fowler is better, Dupree is more versatile and Gregory would thrive more with the attention Sheldon/Mo/Q/Snacks will demand. Beasley would probably be higher if we lacked a strong front 4 but the 3 ahead of him for me just seem like better fits. We honestly cant miss picking any of the 4 or oneof the wideouts or QBs we gonna get a stud
I have no problem going after a pass rusher I really can't stomach another year of Pace playing in slow motion .
That's interesting . I personally got Kevin White over Cooper . Aside from his elite athleticism he attacks the ball at its high point . I love that very Julio jonesish . Not saying Cooper is a slouch or anything he reminds of Torry Holt
It doesn't matter,If we arent able to draft Mariota we are gonna be mediocre anyway.......Where's Geno Smith gonna lead the Jets besides to the "Toliet Bowl "again?
Mariota year one could be a carbon copy of Geno, you know that right? Your expectations are already too high. Toliet Bowl must be that new French bowl game.
Having Marcus Mariota as a New York Jet roster would not be about instantly (and unrealistically) jump starting a moribund offense in 2015. It would be about putting in place the lynchpin from which to build a competent, playoff caliber offense on for the next 10 years after that.
If we do land Mariota, we are going to be mediocre or worse, because he will be sitting on the bench. So Mariota can watch our "Toilet Bowl" journey with splinters in his backside.
There's going to be good value at 6 in the first, whether it's OLB, WR, or QB. However, if they get a defensive player in the first round, the risk is that they also get a defensive player in the second round (have a good feeling that Peters will be there at the 5 in the second), so the perception might be that they care more about D. That being said, the draft is really late, and the FA period will be over. By then, the Jets could have a new starting RG, CB, WR, ILB, FS, and a veteran QB. Could have an entirely different team BEFORE the end of April. Really, really exciting times.
