Not nearly used enough. Would love to see HB screens with Powell. Sneaky back, hands, speed, great story and worker. I formation, split I, single back, jumbo; PA pass
We attack out of shotgun and spread offense, but we have none of the personnel to be effective. We have all the personnel to be effective attacking run team/PA pass, but we mitigate the offense out of shotgun and a spread offense
i kind of agree, and that's the type of offense i'd like to run. but we are missing a PA pass type QB, which is the main problem. even if we are lucky enough to land Mariota, he's not that type of QB either.
Powell may not be super explosive, but he's a solid complete RB. won't cost much either. I'd like him re-signed, paired with Ivory, and then add another guy somewhere in this deep draft of RB's. doesn't make sense to splash in FA for a RB imo..
I want Bilal to go somewhere else where he will get play time. He deserves that. RB's go quick and he's been durable, and doesn't have much mileage on him. with that being said i wonder what CJ Spiller is doing ^_^ hopefully searching for homes in Jersey
He has some nice moves,he is good at making people miss.I've always liked Powell but we never really gave him the chance to carry the load....Id be surprised if he didn't end up in Buffalo
I think we'll find a lot out about Powell's value by the priority Maccagnan places on keeping him here. We need a good blocking back and Powell is pretty decent.
I don't get all the talk for drafting a RB. We have Ivory who's obviously a monster. We have Powell who if given more carries I'm sure would produce very solid numbers. And there's talk about getting Spiller which I think is going to happen. What's the need for another RB with possibly 3 solid RBs on the team. Is it for a backup plan if we land Spiller and he goes down? If that's the case which is fine then I don't see them drafting a RB within the first four five rounds hopefully. It's definitely not a glaring need on this team right now.
well, its a good draft for it, it ensures cheap talent for 4 years (running backs in this rookie wage scale are screwed financially…) and its been forever since we actually drafted an RB. (powell was the last) I'm fine with sticking with vets like we've done for a long time, Ivory, Spiller, Powell sound great, but one wonders if its worth the investment in lieu of an opportunity to draft a blue chip with fresh legs. its not a glaring need, but theres opportunity to make a move that could pay off hugely.
Another reason I couldn't stand Mornigwheg. Needed to feed Powell more all year and he never got in the mix.
With the offense we had last year I don't think the lack of use was his fault. If they go after Spiller, he could in the same place next year.
Personally I don't know why the Jets would let Powell go and then use a draft pick for a RB to replace him. He's still young so he's not likely going to start declining during his second contract. Sign him to a fair contract (assuming that he is willing to a deal in the $1.5M - $2M area) and use the draft pick on OL/DB/LB if not already addressed in free agency. The Jets will only have 6 picks this year (unless there is a trade) and there are more pressing needs on the team. At this point (especially if they let Harvin go) draft picks are much more valuable than a couple of million dollars on a quality RB who can do a lot of things well. I would only spend a draft choice on a RB if they don't end up signing someone like Spiller.
This is the best running back draft ever. Power is just another guy who is no longer worth it since he will not be paid like a rookie anymore. Running backs age like fine milk.
Anybody else hopeful of a pipe dream signing of AP or demarco Murray? We have the damn money. I know it's not our most fiscally responsible move, but it would make our offense just that much more potent along with a WR that can vertically stretch the field opposite decker
