There's no way that the Broncos let DT walk. He's their top WR. The only chance is that Peyton decides not to retire and doesn't restructure his 19 million contract. In that case, it puts the Broncos in a very tight situation where they might not be able to pay DT the money he wants.
It would be awesome, but would also be a lot of money invested into one position, we also need someone who can get these guys the Football. Imagine having that WR core and having a guy like Mariota fall to us at 6 though? Would be exciting.
Even if the Jets signed DT (why would he agree outside of money though?), this is still one of the leagues worst QB situations. A player concerned about money will play for the Jets, a player concerned about stats will not, which player is Thomas? It really doesn't matter how fantastic your wide receiving corps is if you enter the season with a benched Geno Smith as the starter. And if in a season your team has the most expensive wide receiving corps in the NFL (they're already close to #1 in money spent) then you probably see another coaching staff canned once the offense fails to produce and you're starting over at ground 0 in a year.
Bingo. The Jets have much more to gain from improving the offensive line than the receiving group at this point. If we have the opportunity to grab Thomas that is great, but will be at the expense of Harvin, not in addition to.
I do not watch Denver all that much but when I have it seems to me that DT's head is often somewhere other than on the game. Or is he just dumb, football wise?
I don't know what Denver's cap situation is like, but they may not be able to offer DT as much as the Jets and be unable to use the Franchise tag on him. Supposedly, Decker and he are the best of friends. That could be one reason he would sign with the Jets. Playing in the spotlight of NY and possible endorsement deals could be other reasons. Hopefully, the QB situation will change. If the Jets sign a vet FA QB (which I fully expect them to do), the QB situation looks better already. If they draft Mariota, Winston or Petty, the QB situation looks even better and could change dramatically within a season. The Jets' WR corps is one of the most expensive in the NFL? Really? How is that? Decker's deal wasn't that big, nor was Kerley's (that I recall). The rest of their WRs are rookie scrubs aside from Harvin, and I don't consider Harvin a true WR. If he's gone, then I don't see any way the Jets' WR corps could be anywhere near the top paid in the NFL even if they did sign DT.
DT won't come here if Manning comes back (he will). However, he does need to get paid so we shall see what he decides. We could give him a huge deal with all the money we have, but we will most certainly have to overpay to get him here.
Broncos can't keep DT and JT. One is leaving, and I think it's DT. There is less then a 0% chance we get DT AND keep Harvin. So you can throw that idea out. But I think cutting Harvin's sorry a-- and getting DT is possible. Kerley runs the slot, Amaro in 4 wides, I'm good with that.
Would give us the best chance to sign him IMO. He has a one last year with Pey Pey and then jumps ship to be with his buddy Decker and get his money. Makes sense to me.
I don't think we should sign another big contract at WR that would be like 30million in our top three WRs, thats an insane number. However getting a cheap #1 rookie is enticing like Cooper.
I don't trust Harvin to stay healthy or keep cool. It's clear he is not worth even half what Seattle paid him.
This is correct, their roster will be weaker next year (even when healthy) and Peyton is running on even less fumes than last year (yeah leg injury whatever)
This would be great but its being said that Peyton plans on returning if he passes his physical. If he can still play with Peyton and the Broncos are willing to match what ever we would give him I don't see why he would come here
Me either,I'm willing to pass on him as long as we have a plan at WR ,a real legit replacement num 1 wr.I really want Randal Cobb
i know DT is better then decker but like decker....thomas did not start putting #s up till manning was the QB.. so if decker was a "product" of mannings offense..how is thomas not?? same goes for emmanual sanders now.
The Decker is a product of Manning argument is stupid. He finished with nearly 1k yards. If he played with a better QB, nobody would be calling him a product of Manning. He obviously is better with Manning, but who wouldn't be.
every single player in the nfl worries about the money first...and second and third. Then maybe stats because the whole point of putting up big stats....is to get money!!!
by the way, not that I wouldn't love to have DT but is it me or was he dropping balls all over the place last season, mostly the last 5 or 6 games. it seemed to me he had a good amount of drops nevermind....he was 3rd in drops but he had a million targets.....4.9 drop % I can live with that
Manning should retire. He embarrassed himself in that playoff game, and should call it quits before he tarnishes his legacy.
