After seeing all of the threads about how we should have kept this or that guy or that one or more of our new hires sucks the real question is this: Are we better off with the new team or should we have given "the plan" another year? I am not asking whether we treated anyone unfairly. If you think we screwed Rex or Idzick over but are better off for it that would be a yes vote in this case. So for the record, did these moves get us closer to the Superbowl or did we screw things up and put the Bills in a position to kick our ass even worse twice a year?
Can't vote for either option. 1) The fact that it is worded the dream team needed to succeed. 2) lumping Rex, Idzick and Marty Bottom line is I truly believe this will just be more of the same, no closer to the big one, but no worse than what we had.
Bowles will take the defense to the next level. Gailey was a Rex on the other side of the ball....sucked as a HC but was always a great OC. Don't know much about Maccagnan, but he's a Jersey boy with a reputation as a hard working, talented, evaluator. Good enough for me for now. This seems to be a good team.....I think this is an improvement. We'll see how it goes.
As long as Geno is our starter, the answer is no. even if Bowles is a good game manager, putting the game in his hands is not going to inspire any confidence in me as a fan. A couple of good games in his 2 years in the NFL is not proof that he can get it done.
After free agency, the draft, and training camp they will name a starter. Maybe it will be Geno, maybe it won't be.
Well our defense won't be better. Rex was better on defense and well Gailey won't do anything with Gene so.
He might not have to. A decent QB in Chans system can do very well. I think there are a couple in FA, that will do well.
Better off simply because of fact we have two quiet men on the same timetable. Would be shocked at anything Rex-esque coming from Bowles. Guy also doesn't seem to be in business of blowing smoke under players' asses. Those two things alone should make the rebuild much better
Our front office can't be worse (a complete unknown is automatically a better option than Idzik), but our coaching staff is not improved, IMHO.
Yes, we're much better off, and have been since Woody cleaned house. As long as Woody hired a new GM and picked a HC from the list of consensus top choices that were out there (instead of getting cute and going after someone completely off the radar), then we were going to better off because pretty much anything was better than what we had.
I answered based on the options that were given, I agree with you that a lot of work is yet to be done, and I hope they pick up a FA qb, because this scrub is costing people their jobs. I'll tell you this, I'm so glad we won't see the stupid wildcat kill momentum on good offensive drives.
As we should be if we are rebuilding. I would have preferred not to switch GMs in the middle of it, but when you completely blow up a team it takes 2-3 years to get back into contention. Tack on the fact we just completely overhauled the front office and coaching staff, and you should be expecting nothing more than a 5-7 win team.
I think we'll be alright. It will obviously take time to get everyone on the same page, so next season will probably be a wasted season but I think after that we'll be a pretty good team.
If it was mickey and Minnie mouse on the sideline it would be an improvement over Rex and marty, so ya we have improved how much? No one really knows and only time will tell but I look forward to having my dream of seeing us with 3 timeouts and the 2 minute warning left fulfilled this season.
