My last poll was flawed in that it did not include a choice for Kubiak, as was pointed out to me. So I wanted to fix that. Also, the serious contenders for the job are starting to come into focus. The latest seems to be that Quinn and Bowles are the clear favorites, with Kubiak, Reich, and even Marrone still outside possibilities (although Marrone seems to have faded into the background). http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...es-are-jets-top-coaching-candidates-1.9790814 And of course some fans may have changed their minds since the last poll, so I thought I'd do one more, final poll.
Said it before and I'll say it again: I rank it them as Quinn, Kubiak, Bowles, Marrone. I wouldn't consider Cable and don't know enough about Reich to include him on the list.
Since it seems like it's going to be Quinn, I might as well get on board with that. If he's really bringing Shanahan with him as the OC, then that could be a pretty good pairing. Still, I'd be interested to hear how the Reich interview went. If I had to rank them: 1. Quinn 2. Kubiak 3. Bowles 4. Reich 5. Marrone
Trestman was once thought to be going with Rex and now it sounds like that will be Greg Roman so if Shanahan falls through maybe Trestman comes with Quinn as plan B.
freakin rex heading to buffalo.....geezus why do i think he turns them into the 85 bears, and he couldnt with us. can u imagine alonso in rex's system. he is going to be a tackling machine.
I'd be fine with either. Either one of them would be a step up over what we've had in the OC job for the past 6+ years.
Scott Linehan is a brilliant offensive coordinator. If the Cowboys lose today, do you think Woody should bring him in for an interview?
If it's Dan Quinn, shannahan, are we going to end up with Schwartz as DC? It seems that he will not be retained. Or is Quinn going to be another rx? Running the defense and not managing the game? Personally I would not be opposed to kubiak as HC and Schwartz as DC
This would throw a monkey wrench into everything: Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports there's a "pretty good chance" coach John Fox gets fired if the Broncos lose to the Colts on Sunday. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer had a similar "report" earlier in the morning, but it was extremely flimsy. Per Glazer, "there's a thought if (the Broncos) lose today, could Fox become available? If he is, he shoots to the top of lists." Despite winning the AFC West in each of his four seasons as Denver's coach, Fox has been unable to deliver a championship. The Broncos lost in the Divisional Round in each of 2011 and 2012 before getting destroyed by the Seahawks in the Super Bowl last year. Fox would still be in high demand if he hit the open market.
I would pass on Fox ... like that report said, Fox has been unable to win the SB, and with 2 different franchises.
A loss to the Colts is inching closer, and if the news reports are true and it does happen, how will it shake up the whole coaching landscape? Would Denver be interested in sticking in-house with Gase? Would they want to swoop in for Quinn? To what extent will they clean up the staff (Fox + Del Rio + Gase)? Can quickly impact the Jets options.
I'd have to seriously consider Fox if I were the Jets, should he be let go in Denver. He's been in the playoffs every year with Denver, and managed to take a team led by Tim Tebow to the postseason and get a victory there.
They are all awful (with limited records of achievement), but if I had to pick one, I suppose it would be Kubiak because at least he has head coach experience (and isn't Tom Cable or Doug Marrone). John Fox is a thousand times better than any of these other candidates.
I don't really want a defensive minded coach again...but the offensive based candidates are brutal, so Quinn.
Cimini : Ravens announce that OC Gary Kubiak is staying with team. Hardly a surprise. It means Jets have interviewed every candidate
