For the record, there is zero info out there (to my knowledge) suggesting that either the Jets have interest in Shanahan or that Shanahan has interest in the Jets. But, since there has been some speculation about Kubiak (a former Shanahan underling) as a potential retread for us, I just wondered what people would think about Shanahan himself. Supposedly he has already interviewed for the Raiders job and is expected to interview with the Bears. Personally, I'm not a big Shanahan guy, but I wouldn't be appalled if the Jets were interested, either. Also, I'm kind of surprised that they aren't interested, considering that his resume is arguably better than anyone else's out there. Thoughts?
I think the Jets should interview him, doesnt sound like they will though. Nobody seems to do well in Washington so its hard to judge him on that.
He's a good coach. Rg3 is a nightmare and Schneider took rg3 side.. Look how that turned out. I say yes, this list of potential candidates is so unimpressive... Why not atleast gauge his interest.
I've felt for a long time that he is maybe the best offensive mind in the NFL. I can remember going to a game against the Broncos probably in the latter 2000's and the Broncos offense just destroyed the Jets. Not just talent wise but play calling. But I'm not for getting a combo deal with his son. I don't think it would work. Plus I think his better days are behind him. Even though probably not his fault it didn't work out with Snyder. You have to look at the owners track record.
The only thing I will say though, while I agree it's hard to judge him on his time in Washington, what he did in that playoff game with RGIII was a fireable offense in my mind
I'm not really interested in Shanahan, but you can't blame him for the Redskins being shitty. When you give up that much for RG3 and he is not "MVP good" you are basically screwed for the future.
On a personal note about Mike Shanahan. I always felt based on what I read about him plus his interviews on TV that he's a very smart guy: but always trying to pull a fast one on and off the field. You know the kind of guy I'm talking about. You shake hands with him and then check to see how many fingers you have left afterwards. In other words: I never liked him.
Pfffttt... Mike Shanahan should not be allowed to coach ever again in the NFL for that one playoff game alone that he played RGIII. I'm no fan of the Redskins and definitely a Snyder hater but what he did...putting that rookie on the field with his knee that way...borderline criminal and it absolutely cost him his career. Say what you want about the kid...he didn't deserve that.
Who said anything about geno? Rg3 is a problem in the facility and on the field. While geno is terrible he hasn't been that kind of problem. Shannahan wasn't fired cause rg3 sucks, he was fired managment sided with rg3 in his dispute with the coaching staff.. Like always I Appreciate your insight though
I live near DC and most of my family and friends are skins fans and they were THRILLED when he left. Me and a good friend had front row seats behind the skins bench against the jets and he was so furious with the clock management and play calling he screamed at both Shanahans until he was escorted off. Hell no to a Shanahan
Actually is reflects the problem is the Redskins and not necessarily the coach. When you see a common denominator among different people is it more likely all if those coaches weren't good or there are dynamics within the organization that create the failures? This one is pretty easy to deduce.
