Something to think about, here are Geno's stats his first 2 years in the league, and then some other successful QBs who haven't lit it up from the first day:

    Geno Smith
    2013 56% comp 12TD - 21 INTs 66.5 QB Rating
    2014 60% comp 13TD - 13 INTs 77.5 QB Rating

    Eli Manning
    2004 48% comp 6TD - 9 INTs 55.4 QB Rating
    2005 53% comp 24TD - 17 INTs 75.9 QB Rating

Drew Brees (only played 1 game his rookie year, so I'll list his 2nd and 3rd years)
    2002 61% comp 17TD - 16 INTs 76.9 QB Rating
    2003 58% comp 11TD - 15 INTs 67.5 QB Rating

    Vinny Testaverde
    1987 43% comp 5TD - 6 INTs 60.2 QB Rating
    1988 48% comp 13TD - 35 INTs 48.8 QB Rating

    Joe Flacco
    2008 60% comp 14TD - 12 INTs 80.3 QB Rating
    2009 63% comp 21TD - 12 INTs 88.9 QB Rating

    Adding a few more:

    Alex Smith
    2005 51% comp 1TD - 11 INTs 40.8 QB Rating
    2006 58% comp 16TD - 16 INTs 74.8 QB Rating

    Mathew Stafford
    2009 53% comp 13TD - 20 INTs 61.0 QB Rating
    2010 59% comp 6TD - 1 INTs 91.3 QB Rating

    Donovan McNabb
    1999 49% comp 8TD - 7 INTs 60.1 QB Rating
    2000 58% comp 21TD - 13 INTs 77.8 QB Rating

    Drew Bledsoe
    1993 50% comp 15TD - 15 INTs 65.0 QB Rating
    1994 58% comp 25TD - 27 INTs 73.6 QB Rating

Last thing I need to see is Geno Smith stats. I used my eyes to evaluate him.

lets tell the whole story shall we, how many turn overs again for Geno including fumbles versus the others?
7 couple that with 34 interceptions he owns the record for most turn overs in 30 games
with 41. You can't do selective stats.

how many of those interceptions were for tds again? how many fumbles killed drives and cost us points with teh turn over?

how many tds did he throw compared to those players also?
    Geno 25
Eli 30 (eli only played 9 games his first yr)
Drew 28 (start his first yr no stats from that game)
Vinny 18 (only played 6 games his first yr)
    Joe Flacco 35
    how about attempts
    Geno only threw 810 times
really only vinny and eli threw less but they also started less games.

I did not see these other players games but chances are he is no vinny or eli.

I can tell you from what I saw he cant take a snap under center, has issues finding open receivers and can't read a defense.

on a run centered team there is no way in the world he should have had that many interception 7 or 8 going for pick 6s.

I wanted the kid to succeed but from what I se if he is lucky he is a career back up. If people ran Sanchez out of NY Smith has been worse and people want to see him start again. I have seen that show and it sucks.

Wow 35 picks - that's mind boggling. Looks like that's the second most interceptions ever behind George Blanda's 42 in 1962.

This list aside, Mike Sando on this week's BS Report said that stats show the vast majority of the time if a QB sucks his first 16 games he won't end up being a good QB.

kind of a selective list… cherry pick's a few success stories that started poorly, ignore the ones that didn't… but while we're on the subject...

Looking at film from early and later on, smith looks really good sometimes, makes a lot more impressive deadly accurate throws than I thought he would and he has learned to find an effective method of moving in the pocket and finding space to throw when he can manage. there are definitely moments where I'm like "yes, he's an NFL quality starter"…

    THAT SAID

when he makes mistakes its always done at worst time in the worse way. I mean he played great all december again… y'know except for the points he spotted each and every team during all those last games in his own territory. with a pick 6 to start the MIN game, a safety in nashville, another pick that converted to points vs pats an the only bad mark on an otherwise perfect game in miami with that ridiculous fumble.

Geno-coaster's got too many downs to rely on. he's clearly made progress in some areas from his rookie year, he's not a completely lost cause and should be able to hold down a backup job somewhere, but theres no reason not to look for better options.

don't cut him, let him compete, but don't get delusional about him either. we gave him his chance to be uncontested starter, he failed, though he never fails to make me go "wow!" or "wow…."

Do you have problems with basic math? Read my OP again, Testaverde had 35 interceptions his 2nd year, thats more interceptions than Geno had in 2 years combined. Testaverde also had 6 ints his first year, but he only played 6 games. His 3rd year he had 22 interceptions, so take 9 out of 14 games his third year to get him to 30 games, and you ll have 50-60 TOs, Geno can't even sniff that. And what is 30 games anyway? Talk about being selective.

This doesn't really mean anything. There are a bunch of different factors involved in whether an interception becomes a pick-six, and not all of them are on the QB. Or whether or not a turnover turns into points.

I listed how many touchdowns each QB threw in the OP. As to why Geno threw so little TDs, have you watched our offense? The one that insisted on running wildcat in the red zone, or predictable running plays, and refused to let Geno throw there. Part of it might be on Geno, but I don't see many QBs having nice stats in that kind of offense.

Well, if you notice, I put that in the OP: "and then some other successful QBs who haven't lit it up from the first day". I didn't say anywhere that all QBs who start poorly succeed, I am just giving examples of it happening in recent history, and not just 1 or 2 times either.

Stats don't show how incredibly stupid Geno Smith is on the field.

Missed the td part but Sorry we are going to disagree you went selective with Vinny stats and not Geno's ? Not including fumbles, or counting attempts? face it Geno sucks ass. I wanted the kid to be good but chances are he is not. So I would wish for everyone to please stop trying to sell everyone a bill of goods on Geno when the odds are against him.

he actually said after the last game he wanted to come back stronger faster and smarter. Sorry you can come back stronger and faster but when you continue to make the same mistake time after time there is not enough freaking smart pills in the world to correct that.

So you are willing to make allowances for Geno but not for Vinny. With all the different factors in interceptions it took 10 years for Vinny to become an nfl qb that is when he joined the Jets. That is when he doubled his tds to interceptions.

You want to wait 10 yrs for Geno don't get lonely chances are Geno is going to be a career back up and that is only if he learns from his mistakes and to take care of the ball.

I stand by my statement People ran Sanchez out of town and he was nowhere near as bad as Geno. Geno is worse in less games. The only thing Geno the living turn over has over Sanchez is he was nto atop 5 pick so it is not as big of a bust

Geno seems to be the current whipping boy for posters, but here is a couple things to consider:

    1. Geno has been severely hampered in his development because of having to deal with Rex and his negative influence on the offense.

    2. Meaningless or not, Sunday was the first time under Rex we actually saw a MM offense unencumbered by Rex's nonsense and Geno responded

People want to blame Geno and say he sucks but the reality is that he was almost ruined by Rex. I cant say if he will be elite or will continue to struggle, but I do know he has some serious talent, has flashed in some games and is free of the QB killer.

Dude I got an issue not with math but with people like you who put crap like this in posts.
"Do you have problems with basic math? Read my OP again, Testaverde had 35 interceptions his 2nd year, thats more interceptions than Geno had in 2 years combined. I have an issue when people count one aspect of the game he turn it over 41 freaking times in 30 games he owns the record for the most turn overs in 2 years as a starter
I Did re-read your post and I think you are a geno supporter and there is nothing wrong with that but the kid cant play at this level.

really well if I look at the stats they are the same except Geno has more turn overs
Sanchez threw over 1000 times for 33 interceptions and 29 tds
while Smith threw just over 800 times for 34 interceptions and 25 tds
Yeah those stats really prove you right
If you got rid of Sanchz for being bad and a turn over machine then geno is worse and should be shown the door for the same reason.
As far as being saddled with Rex well who was the coach and oc when Sanchez was here?

Smith sucks sorry to be the one to point it out but put down the rose colored glasses and tell me what f makes you think they are any different? They are the same turn over proned qb.
I see two things one is that Sanchez is worse based on the fact he was a top 5 pick we traded for and two Sanchez is Latin and you guys hate Latins? I say they both equally sucked and they both should be shown the same door
