please note that these are in order, from the beginning of the game til the 3rd quarter, when i drove home from my grandpa's house - saw on FSN on the football preview show that curtis martin started running during the week - 1st play, brad smith lines up at running back and gets 5 yards...didn't i say we could use him at qb? he knows how to read defenses - chad is awesome at drawing guys offsides - (flipped to the eagles game) we need to use leon washington like the eagles use westbrook - 1st quarter, chad was throwing his passes high -stupid CBS credited a leon washington run to derrick strait - askew with a sowell-esque tackle on punt coverage -100% bullshit on the barton safety, no helmet contact at all - -hmy:
That roughing the QB on Vilma was also BS. He had him in the grasp, was driving him to the ground but he was able to throw the ball while going down. 3rd and goal (incomplete pass) converted into an automatic 1st and goal??? OUCH!!!
Even if they did not call a penalty on Barton's sack, it wasn't gonig to be a safety. He was tackled on the 1
It could have been called holding too... and it started on the 1 and went into the end zone... meaning it could have been called a safety.
Well then they would have been punting from the one and thus most likely giving the JETS excellent field position. It may not have resulted in any points, but that call should never had been made, and it did take out any wind that was still left in their sails.
The two late hit calls were a disgrace and a complete breakdown in officiating. DeWayne got pancaked early and was never heard from again. Once again he played on roller skates yesterday. Not to mention the block int he back on the kickoff team that cost us 80 yards and a blocked punt that lead to 7. it was 14-0 at the time. The Jets were dreadful but the officials are embarrassing with these late hits. It is the pussification of the NFL. Now you hit a QB when he has the ball and they throw a flag? Or you execute a perfect tackle for a safety and they call the same f**king thing? What a God-damned joke.
This sums up what happens to us during the run. Teams just run it right up our gut because it is so easy to run through gap 1 or gap 2 created by the 3-4. Once the opposing offense knows they own the line of scrimmage, we are toast. I think we should go over to a 4-3 for the most part and pepper in the 3-4 later in the game when the other team might be showing some wear. At least that should be what we try to do for the rest of this year anyway.
The bad officiating ticked me off yesterday, too. Good thing those absolutely lousy calls came in a game that we would have likely gotten blown out of anyway, rather than a game that was close and we had a chance to win.
