it wasnt one of the worst games in nfl history...thats just ridiculous.....the vilma play comes down from the league not the refs guys come on....thats why when the ref tells the crowd what the call is he is specific...he said vilma landed on him with all his weight, basically saying he forced him down to the turf harder than neccesary....is it completely gay? yes yes yes....but its the rule....so in a sense you can say the ref actually made a great call in noticing that....the helmet to helmet was a bad call but there was a slight lead with the helmet and maybe the refs angle ooked worse....the block in the back I never saw a replay so I cant argue that one......41-0 and we have a referee thread? come on guys, its silly, useless and smells like sour grapes to me

after the barton roughing call me the bartender had about a half hour discussoin on how you go about sacking a qb in todays nfl without getting a penalty. we came to no conclusion.

The only problem with that is, Vilma didn't land directly on top of QB, he tackled him and fell to the side of him. There was no penalty in my eyes...Go back and look at the replay....Thats why I say it was a bogus call.

If it was one bad call then fine. But it was 3 bad calls. Thats absurd!

If anyone is watching the Pittsburgh/San Diego game, the last play where Joey Porter hit Rivers would definately have been called roughing the passer by the refs of our game today.

That's what I was just saying. That was way worse than the should-have-been safety.

Look, we didn't lose this game because of the refs. We got our asses kicked by a better team. But that doesn't excuse the refs from calling a horrible game. They basically gave the Jags 16 points. So yeah, it would have been a blowout anyway, but it was still terrible.

Just because it was a blowout doesn't mean we can't complain about atrocious officiating. The officiating wasn't the reason we lost, but the league needs to take notice of this. The ridiculous call on Barton negated a potential momentum changing play. Would the Jets have taken advantage had this call not been made? Probably not since they played terrible all around, however that doesn't matter. The Vilma call was a terrible one as well. These roughing the passer calls are becoming a league wide problem. The officiating crew today is the worst I've seen all year. Something needs to be done about this or we should call the NFL the NPL - National Pansy League.

    yea, we got waxed.

but on principle alone, those were BAD calls.

i said it a few weeks ago: the QB's should wear red jerseys during the games. several people called me out for it; this is asking a lot from Defensive players.

    cheers

it started with Palmer's injury last year, and it worsened with Simms' injury.

at this point, there's no light for Defensive players.

    cheers

Good point. I thought football was a tough sport where there is suppossed to be HITTING involved. Apparently QB's are exempt from this in today's NFL. The league is attempting to protect its poster boys (like Peyton Manning) at the expense of the sport and game itself. It's becoming a joke.

If this game was close, those calls would be all over espn, but as bad as they were (and they were the two worst roughing the passer calls i've ever seen in my life) they will go completely unnoticed.

That was an absolute joke. I think it might benefit us in the future though because the team could think they could have been in it and maybe put a chip on their shoulders. THat chip can go along way. But those two personal fouls were crap. Just terrible.

Even if the Jets get the correct calls, it's still a blowout...

But regardless...BOTH of those "Roughing the Passer" penalties were crap. What do they want flag football instead? They made Leftwich out to be Peyton Manning today, oh wait you can't hit him, he's a star type stuff...

Helmet to helmet on Barton? Gimmie a break...Those calls were horrible...The Erik Coleman slam on Leftwich was just like the Vilma one, yet no flag? Bull freakin shit.

The thing about the Barton call, it was called by the head ref and he immediately called it without meeting with the other refs. It was like he was angry when he called it too, like he thought it was a fineable offense. Meanwhile he didn't even see it correctly. It wouldn't have been a safety though. It was a sack inside the 1 yard line.

All the greatest officiating on this planet will not fix our Defensive problems. We have to do that ourselves.

They were horrible calls, but that is not why we were completely dominated by the Jags.

Iv never heard of driving the qb's body into the ground as a reason to call a ruffing the passer call before. (Is'nt that called a tackle?)
