I think it is hysterical that anyone can truly think that Rex will be a HC next year. I won't say no chance because anything is possible but it is very unlikely Rex's next gig is a HC. The odds of Rex being a HC in the NFL again is probably at about 50/50, with how he performs in his next DC stint as a major factor.
I don't think Vick ever checked in, so i don't think you can pinpoint a time when he checked out. He never tried to compete, never showed any fire to play, looked almost pissed to play in San Diego, turned the ball over as much as Geno against Buff, and looked dreadful this last game against Buff. What makes you think halftime against Detroit would have been different? btw, i agree a quicker hook on Geno would have been ideal. i just don't think they had the alternative option they thought they were getting when they signed Vick. so it was a situation of no good QB options once again.. Vick got his chance, and it wasn't good. we need to draft a QB, AND bring in a viable veteran option to start next year. until we get a better option out there at QB, we won't truly improve. after that, fix the secondary, which is our clear 1A problem. can't throw TD passes, can't stop TD passes.
Of course he could, especially if he gets a job as a DC elsewhere first, keeps his mouth shut, learns from his mistakes here, learns about offense, and is successful as a coordinator. Then again, there are other wacko owners and GMs in the league. He could get hired immediately after he is fired by the Jets, but I doubt it. Even if he does get hired immediately, it won't mean that it was a good move by that owner or GM or that he will be successful.
I despise the man just as much as you do, I think his antiquated and one sided approach to football has contributed to the situation we have today. I'm of the opinion that he won't learn, he has a mold that he lives and dies with. Few are the HCs who reinvent themselves after being fired.
I agree. To quote a couple of old maxims, "Apples don't fall far from the tree" and he's a "Chip off the old block." Buddy was the same way.
I think you have to wonder if Vick was given an expectation of starting before he signed his contract, and then got a different vibe afterward. I'm not absolving him for not preparing for games, but how disheartening would it be to sign a contract under false pretenses? You can claim that he never tried to compete based on some anonymously sourced article, but he was front and center stating that there wasn't a real QB competition early on and no coach or personnel man actively disputed his comments, they just kept giving the party line.
Actually, I hope he does...end up in the division that is...at the very least the same conference so he can kick the shit out of the Jets for the next decade! Talk about poetic justice! (Depending upon how Miami and/or Buffalo end the season it could happen) However, for those of you thinking that he'll never be a head coach again...really? Talk about letting your hatred cloud your judgement! If Eric Mangini, Wade Phillips etc...can score a second gig then so can Ryan! Hell Belichick was LAUGHED out of Cleveland and look now. No, Ryan will definitely land another HC gig and it's not a stretch to think he gets one sooner rather than later. Off the top of my head we have the obvious one in Oakland with potentially openings in Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville & Chicago...PLENTY of opportunity!
Sticking with Sanchez no matter what. Making Santonio the Captain. He takes care of his guys no matter how bad they hurt the team.
Jets fans are so schizophrenic. Sticking with Sanchez was a mistake and he was a bum that needed to be benched every game from 2011 on. Then when he was injured last season in the preseason it became a disaster that he was not around to play instead of Smith. Now that he is playing for the Eagles, he is the darling of both the same Jets fans and the football media who crucified him from 2011 until two weeks ago. So which is it? Is Sanchez a bum who was kept too long or a player who was let go too soon? It can't be both.
You've got a good point. The players have some responsibility too. But these are pros not college players. You can't just play the Any Given Sunday speech. If the ship is going down and you're future is unknown would you give you're all.
it seems that most players just care about doing enough of a job to keep their spot and to keep getting paid - and if I had a job with an average career expectancy of about 3 years I would probably be the same. I honestly don't think its a case of caring less than the other side, I just think that the talent isn't there in too many key positions, in particular THE key position, to be able to be competitive.
Decker needs to be responsible and tame his lady. She doing all the talking for him makes him for 1 look like a bitch, all he does is talk about denver and how sad he is that their doing better without him...get over it this is what you wanted. Now his woman is saying he's depressed bc of the way this season is going. Get a grip Deck... seriously.. starting to look like a soft ass wimp. Jets fans are gonna troll the shit out of his wife forever probably but she put this on her self... wonder what kinda stunt this will add to the circus in the long run.
so true! another example: having david harris on the field for 3rd and long. harris can't cover himself! over and over again he's mismatched on a much faster player. rex did this same thing with bart scott.
Maybe the Jets fanbase is diverse and while one Jets fan may have an opinion, another one one will have a conflicting one. It can be both, because no fanbasei s 100% in agreement
