Forget about not knowing personnel, blowing the draft, the Dmitri Patterson Debacle, etc. If this is true -- and I have no doubt it is -- it shows the guy is paranoid and worried about the same nonsense that Scott Pioli was worried about in Kansas City: "Last week, the Jets prevented Rex Ryan from sharing details about his bye-week trip to Kentucky to see his 83-year-old father, Buddy, who has battled cancer in recent years. Ryan was happy to discuss the visit, but a media relations official intervened presumably because of the News’ critical stories about Idzik." "He’s definitely making things more paranoid,” the insider told the Daily News after Idzik’s first season on the job. “He doesn’t trust anyone.” http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...dzik-find-competent-jets-gm-article-1.2024376 This is exactly how Scotti Piolie acted in his final months @ KC (I followed it very closely). It looks like the Jets are heading to a 2nd messy breakup with a John Idzik (the other one being in 1979).
I am convinced that Mehta makes this bullshit up, I have no doubt in my mind. He ALWAYS has some source behind the scenes talking to him off the record. It always comes off very suspicious, it comes back very amateur, it just reeks of made up drivel. The guy doesn't have anyone talking like this behind the scenes. The only thing this guy has is lies, lies, and more lies. You are not a credible reporter unless you have an actual source, you know, the kind of source that has a name behind their quotes. This guy should be fired. I wish it could be a package deal. If Rex and Idzik are both gone at the end of the year, I would happily love to watch Mehta be given his walking papers as well.
He doesn't want to look like the bad guy who fired Rex while his dad was dying, makes sense to me but who knows what's true or isn't anymore
Rex himself could have leaked this to the media ,he knows he is being fired he has nothing to lose .I can't wait to hear the real story about everything that's happend over the last 6 years,I hope Rex writes a book when he's done coaching
Me too... I'm just hoping for a tell all and Rex becomes the old Rex and shoots from the hip. Unfortunately, since there are only 32 HC jobs and not many available at any given time, Rex can't afford to burn bridges (franchises) IF he ever wants to be a HC again.
no, sorry but this isn't the number 1 reason to dump idzik. the number one reason is because he keeps telling everyone we are building through the draft and the dude can't evaluate talent or hire the scouts capable of doing what he is preaching about. don't care one iota about hearing about buddy's sad story.....
Yeah this is a secondary reason to ditch Idzik, but definitely not #1. The biggest reason to ditch him is because he knows nothing about constructing a winning, deep, talented football roster.
Its why Manish Mehta does it. He sells people what they want to hear, not necessarily what is the truth. When things go good, he will act like absolutely nothing happened and keep churning up story after story raving about Rex or Idzik or whoever and ignore what he once said. But when things go bad, he's among the very first to pounce at an opportunity and will resort to everything and anything to get his name out. People constantly click his articles, why I don't know. Mehta gets rewarded with a nice salary in all likelihood by the NY Daily News who love guys like Isola and Mehta who like to speak out of their ass consistently. And then now, Mehta is a reoccurring guest on Profootballtalk and has his articles constantly featured on the website. It sucks someone like that gets rewarded and some of the Jets lesser known beat writers do not, I wish fans would actually reward these kind of people rather than reward Mehta and the amount of ass pulling he pulls. Mehta gets recognition when Rex kids around with him or when he fired back at him post Sanchez injury or when Mehta spoke out of his ass about Idzik trading his draft picks. Mehta's mindset is to put his name out there at all costs, even if its done in a pathetic means. The guy has been full of shit for years now, he used to be a good beat writer and journalist which is the sad part but it is negativity that sells papers these days, not being positive. He sold his reputation/integrity to his employer for more money by doing some obnoxious bullshit and speaking out in press conferences like his shit does not stink.
He cant even formulate a sentence. I know a real writer would " write" the book but Im not sure RR would even be able to pass his thoughts along. We're talking about a historically stupid human being here.
I respect Rex for taking the high road this whole year. He could've said how we were undermanned from week 1, he'd coach the hell out of this team and try his hardest, but the talent level isn't on par with playoff teams..that said he's playing perfect company man which will only help his stock at seasons end. Very sad to hear about Buddy Ryan, one of the best defensive minds of all time and the coach of the best NFL defense of all time. (85 Bears)
If Rex had been allowed to discuss it with Manish, I can imagine what the next day's headline would've been .... "Rex's Latest Excuse - My Father is Dying" "Rex Escapes Idzik's Grasp Long Enough to Visit Dying Buddy" "Dying Buddy Tells Rex That It's All Idzik's Fault" ETC.
Now who would pull that kind of stuff. If you really want to make Idzik into a bad guy you'd toss something like that into the hopper. Do you really believe he is that bad (as a person). So if this happened the source would have to hear this from someone-obviously Rex. Or how would they know about it.
Again Rex having someone else fight his battles. While he acts and talks like a loyal organization person. What a crock of shit!
Wow U are finally seeing the lite at the end of the tunnel. I surely hope up to now U also included yourself as one of those fans U posted about
