It's the BYE WEEK! The Jets are off, coming off a rare win, in a terrible (2-8) Season. The sky might actually be falling for once. Still, this team does have some positive players on it. So, what have you liked this year? -Eric Decker Despite his early season injuries, Decker has been a solid WR for the team. A constant professional too. The only flaw I have seen in him is he doesn't have a QB to get him the ball. Good Free Agent Pick up. -Percy Harvin Yes, he has had very limited action on the Jets, but Harvin looks like a strong play maker. Great speed too. Seems to be picking up the offense pretty quick too. I wouldn't mind having him on the 2015 Jets roster. -Jets Running Backs Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and even Chris Johnson have looked great this season. The problem is they never get the ball enough and have such terrible QB play, that they are hung out to dry. Actually, the Jets skill players have been greatly improved. Jace Amaro is also looking like a solid Tight End. -Nick Folk He missed a kick against the Steelers, but he is almost automatic for the Jets. I was very skeptical of him even signing with the Jets, but he has proven me wrong. Very reliable kicker. -Run Defense Obviously the Pass defense has been awful, but you have to be impressed with the Jets Front 7 and run defense. The pass rush has not been as great as I expected, but it is still tough to run on the Jets. Heck, the Steelers could barely get positive yards. Those are a few positives I have taken away. What about you guys?
Have to add Aboushi there. Guy is playing at a high level for a 5th round pick and much better than Winters.
I wouldn't call CJ a positive. Ivory on the other hand has shown the ability to stay healthy and be a guy that can be counted on. Maybe Idzik should trade every draft pick for active players. I'd add Amaro to the positives. Hasn't been great but been about as solid as a rookie TE on a bad offense can be.
Chris Ivory...... When he's fed the ball its almost guaranteed entertainment on otherwise shitty sundays
Positives: 1. None of the DL have gotten hurt. 2. The Jets have looked at a bunch of DB's and will presumably have a few real candidates to join Milliner in the backfield next year. 3. The Geno Smith internal debate seems to be over - he's going to have to earn his way back onto the field and barring that the Jets will have another QB next year. 4. Chris Ivory is healthy and Percy Harvin is on board alongside Jace Amaro and Eric Decker. The days of not enough play makers are going and gone. 5. The Jets have used Ivory in a very smart way this season not blowing the tread off his tires in a season that got progressively worse. His high point for carries was the 21 he got against the Pats in a tight game all the way through - that's exactly when giving him a lot of carries meant something to the organization and the fans.
Haha yeah, I guess that is a positive way to spin what has happened with Geno this year. True though. Hope the team finds a good QB for 2015. We have seen for years how the position can make or break teams.
Positives: 1. Team is mostly healthy. 2. Offense has a solid framework. Just need a QB and this team can be solid. 3. Mangold back-body dropped a guy 4. Run D has been stout, they stuff RB's and keep us in games that we've had no business being in. 5. Not really a positive, but we know we have nothing in Geno, so we got that mess out of the way. 6. Ivory Im not very through so i apologize. You guys have already stated the positives. There haven't been a lot so its tough.
The Dline Harris and Davis (So far) Marcus Williams Jace Amaro Chris Ivory Eric Decker Jeremy Kerley Percy Harvin Aboushi (so far) Nick Mangold Ferguson
He's one of the worst guards in the nfl according to pff. Just because Winters sucks doesn't mean the next guy up is stellar.
The offense has at least felt more stable with him in there instead of Winters. Could credit small sample size or Michael Vick being there, but he has definitely been an upgrade.
Who cares what PFF ranks him as? When he gains more experience they will rank him higher, it's a ranking based on what the player has done and not on what he will do. The oline has looked better with him in there and Vick had some good pockets to throw from, against a good Steelers defense.
Percy Harvin is a hell of a football player, better even then I realized Chris Ivory is one of the hardest hitting running backs I have seen
Disagree with front 7 as a positive, front 3 is a very positive, LB's are mostly old and slow...positives for me Decker, Ivory, Harvin, Mangold, Amaro
I don't know where you're getting that.... He's ranked 23rd (among left and right guards) with a positive grade. In 336 snaps he has a grade of 0.4. Nothing stellar, but solid. In 381 snaps winters was -15.3. Atrocious. Also his last two weeks he graded at +1.7, so we're seeing improvement
