I'm afraid this is a concept with which I am just not familiar. As a Jets fan I never thought about the possibility of my team being good for an 'extended' period of time--I'll be happy with them being really good for ANY period of time in my lifetime.

Well, I suppose you could make the point that these folks became fans just because said franchise was doing well. Those aren't really bandwagoners in my book, but they're in the spirit. Otoh, I became a NJ Devils fan from the moment it was announced the Rockies were moving to NJ (they didn't even have the Devils moniker yet). I was no bandwagon jumper.... They sucked bad for years, but they were the NJ team and I loved them. So what do you call a dude from, say, Idaho who grew up loving the Cowboys, Steelers, Pats, etc. because they were winners but then stuck it out thru the losing years? I suppose they're just fans like us, but started out as bandwagoners? After all, if they were really bandwagon fans they'd fall away once the team's fortunes waned.

Anyone who claims to be a football fan and then doesn't want to talk football on Sunday is a fraud. That's just wrong. I turned my wife in a football fan this way and now we talk football on Sundays in the fall most years (this year not so much). Unfortunately, when I turned her on to football I also made her a Jets fan. I'm worried this might be grounds for divorce.

All you people crying about the Steelers fans and wasn't there yourself. Why wasn't you at Met life? Don't bitch unless you was there.

But what if that person chose the team because they were good?

Would it make a difference if they chose a team that was bad?

Isn't there a song called Steal Away? It would have been very funny if they played that. Personally. I am a Todd Rungren fan.

LMFAO I was calculating the championships between those three teams when I read this. The Jets have had more rough times in 40 years than all the of those teams combined in the past 100 years.

my guess is his favorite basketball team is the Celtics. That would put him over 70 titles

Actually, in the pre-Chuck Noll era, the Steeler's were legendarily and nearly comically bad. Something like one playoff appearance in 40 years. Just throwing it out there. Sometimes it takes generations to turn a franchise around.

Something to be hopeful for your grandchildren.

I went to the Bills game. Their fans were obnoxious, too. Chanting that stupid Bills cheer and in our own building, too. Plus when I spoke to a few of them they were arrogant. Like they were a big time winning franchise. They haven't kicked very many teams ass the way they kicked ours that day. We all know that they aren't winning shit!

Really??? fill the seats and watch your favorite team do what - make the same mistakes, commit the same penalties over and over again, fail to score (except for FG's), give up the big plays in the secondary, turn the ball over, wait until the season is in the shitter before changing quarterbacks, the list goes on and on.....
Feed the homeless, good idea. Start with the many players and coaches that will be outside looking in at Met Stadium soon.
