Can't argue with much of this. I'm with you on the socks as well, although if you look at the old Namath era socks, it looks like the striping was chunkier, looks better IMO.
I think plaid uni's would be okay as long as I could see this team win the SB before I die. I actually like their uni's now. I used to think new ones would be okay, but any new Nike's have all been eye sores.
I don't mind the new Denver uniforms, I think they're alright. I think the new Miami uniforms are alright as well. I wouldn't say either of those are really an upgrade or downgrade over what they had before. I like the Bills newer uniforms, although they technically came out a year before Nike took over. The Buccaneers and the Seahawks are the only really bad ones, but I didn't even really like the Seahawks before the change either.
All this talk about garbage bags reminds me of an article I read about Ozzy Osbourne. When Black Sabbath first toured New York, their management would hire a load of hookers to occupy them. These 'slags' would elicit laughter from other band members who walked in on their buddies with the clap ridden/toothless ladies. So band members put bags on the hookers heads to hide their faces and bags on their own heads, to hide their shame. The girls were called 'double baggers.' Go women's lib!
Seriously, it will not stop with the uniforms changing. After the Redskins are forced to change their name, we will be next because some fringe groups will associate the New York Jets with 9/11. The PC police will be after the nickname in a New York minute after the Redskins become the "Filibusters".
while we're at it, why dont they just change their name to the "Helicopters"? They're obviously better at going up and down & spinning around, than efficiently moving forward to the destination... btw, that pic just proves that knowing how to use photoshop does not make one a "designer"
Just an opinion from an outsider... Those Kelly green uni's with the green helmet were bland as hell imo. I like the green in the current uni's.
I do like that the Buffalo players would have "BILLS" emblazoned on their crotches. At least that's classy.
Seriously? I hope you are joking. If you don't see the huge difference between the derogatory nature of the Redskins name and that the word Jets is a term used every day and offends nobody, well.............
