Yesterday showed that the team is in dire need of a permanent QB solution, at the same time the team is also in dire need of a big time playmaking reciever. Multiple reports say that if the Jags, Raiders or Bucs land the number one overall pick then they'll look to deal the pick. Which leaves the Jets with the option to trade up and try and land Jameis or even Mariota. Or the Jets could be content with their 4-5 pick and land Amari Cooper. Keep in mind the potential free agent WR's this year are Thomas, Dez, Cobb, Crabtree, Maclin and potentially V-Jax. Also keep in mind that the Jets have to fix their problems on the Offensive Line and in the Secondary. With all that in mind, what do the Jets do.
Harvin works out, QB(or OT ) if not, consider a flanker depending on where the jets land and who's available.
Unless they are absolutely certain that Mariota or Winston is their guy, don't even bother going QB. Get a veteran in here who isn't complete garbage. Doesn't have to be elite by any means, just someone who isn't going to actively lose games for us. Someone you can keep around until you're ready to draft that 'elite' QB. Use the draft and cap space wisely to build up that oline and get some more offensive weapons in here.
QB is a big need, but seeing how it takes minimum 2 years to develop a good QB, I don't see QB a 1st-round need. Jets have OL to bolster first. In fact, they should burn 1st and 2nd on OL and secondary in this upcoming draft. QB is a 3rd, if there is a good one slipping by. If not, maybe next year.
I'm not really confident that they will make the right choice with a QB or WR. If we could get a can't miss, top flight OT that would be a safer pick. Not sure how we can improve the rest of the offense becuase, like I said, I don't have much confidence in them. My bet is we get in the top 5 but trade down so Idzik can make more middling picks on injury prone DBs that won't even see the field or WRs that he'll cut by the end of training camp.
If the Jets have a chance to draft Winston, you take him. Yes he is immature but his playing skills point to a can't miss prospect. Dez Bryant was immature when he was drafted and I'm sure the Cowboys don't regret selecting him.
It's hard to tell where the priorities will be because we don't know who the coaching staff will be. If it's someone who can groom a QB, then sure. If it's another talented defensive thinker but not an offensive mentor type (Ryan), then a veteran is the way to go. Cooper is definitely the safe call at this point. Sent using Tapatalk
let's take a QB then when he fails in 2 years we can take another one and another one and another one, ...
Sign a veteran in free agency. Draft a QB in the first 2 rounds. Let the vet play while the rook sits for a year or so.
Cooper is the next great WR. He would be for our QB (whoever that is) what AJ Green is to Dalton and what Julio Jones is for Ryan. Nabbing that stud QB is hard. Get the stud WR.
