My question is the same as the title of the thread....... I will expand....will we pursue a vet to compete with Chad or will we draft a QB still like Cutler or will we wait till round 2 and g for a Omar Jacobs or Charlie Whitehurst? Or will we take D'Brick.....which I am hoping for.
I would think that the plan is that Chad is now the stop gap. I believe they are still planning to take Cutler at #4
i read somewhere (one of those news articles today) that restructuring chad wouldnt stop us from drafting a qb in the 1st ound if thats what we decide to do.
The truth is no one knows. I know we all hate to admit it because we're bored here, but it's the truth.
Yeah, we really need Ferguson and then hopefully we get a 1st rounder for Abe and can draft Williams, Maroney or White.
Why would we draft Ferguson with the 4th pick if we already have Adrian Jones. Ferguson is not on the level with Walter Jones, Pace and Ogden so he's not worth a pick that high. I keep repeating myself but we will trade abraham for additional picks and draft Mario Williams to anchor our defense for the next 5 years.
Get your QB in the later rds. Croyle or Whitehust would fit nicely. PS - The only 1st rd tackle I would want is McNeill.
I can't see us taking a QB now. Pennington (if healthy) and Bollinger are suitable enough for this team right now. If we sign Kitna or Griese we can't possibly draft a QB. Why not wait till next year anyway and just draft Quinn anyways. D'Brick seems like the most logical pick right now. Either that or we trade down a few spots and take someone on the defensive side of the ball and adress the OL with a lter pick(s).
IMO this is what the jets should/will do: Sign Jon Kitna for 4 years, have him compete with Pennington for the starting job (Kitna wins). Also sign McGinest to replace Abraham. I think we have a good chance at him if he is a cap casualty, because he has been with Mangini for the last 5 years. In the draft, assuming we trade Abraham to Detroit for their #9 pick, heres what we should do: #4: D'Brickashaw Fergerson #9: Vernon Davis #35: Nick Mangold Maybe a QB in the 3rd or 4th round, if not select a QB with our #1 pick next year
No way we are getting that high of a pick for Abe... we'd have to give up a 2nd round pick or something to get the 9th pick for abe.
by picking these three guys, you ignore our most pressing needs, QB and RB? martin and chad/kitna do not help the rebuilding process, yes we probably set ourselves up nicely at those positions, but next year we will have to once again decide to take a QB or RB when we have a early pick in the draft. I like your ideas, but i just dont see them ignore QB/RB until the 3/4th round.
No i'm not. I said we sign Kitna for QB this year and maybe next year... we draft a QB next year in the 1st round, and for RB we can survive this year with Martin, Houston, & Blaylock And i think our O-Line is our most pressing need
I just don't see us drafting a qb in the first round. All picks have a degree of chance about them and I think Mangini knows we have to change the complextion of the team. I still think D'brick is our top pick but I expect us to do some major dealing on day one. If Abe is traded we will be one of the richest teams draft wise in 2006, Mangini is smart and will use these picks to address the O line and defence. If Croyle was still available in the second round (unlikely) I would be happy to have him for the future.
:shit: yes, bolly is suitable which is exactly why that money should be used on a fa qb and then draft a guy for the future. giving another $3 million on top of the $22 MILLION already wasted on 16 games is spectacularly stupid! :rofl2:
D'Brick has to be the first pick, especially if we maybe counting on Chad to come back. Sure he's not on the level of Pace or Jones, but you have to give him a chance to develop.
