Probably... This may have been the cheapest we could get a playmaker of his caliber though. If we waited till the offseason, other teams may have bid for him. I'm pretty sure guys like Dez, D Thomas and Maclin won't make it to FA, so there won't be any player of his caliber available in FA and the draft is far from a sure thing. Whether or not it makes the difference this year, it still may have been the best opportunity to get a big time player period.
You dont count, I'm talking home games...If you are in Oregon, then yeah you should check out your team whenever you get a chance
My apologies to all of you who witnessed today's blueprint of a FAIL masterpiece by the Jets in person. Hurt em where it counts fellas...
Don't you get it? Season tickets and parking are already paid for. Staying home doesn't hurt anyone. If I want to go to a game I paid for already, I will. I don't care what you or anybody else says I should do.
Two weeks to plan and spread the word. People aren't staying home with so much money irretrievably invested in tickets, etc. but a statement and a financial penalty on the team can still be made. Don't enter the stadium until the anthem is played! Go to the game, get your tailgate on, but don't spend a dime before the game starts. Let the cameras show 60,000 empty seats when the game starts. You'll jam up the security lines and you'll miss a few minutes, a fumble and maybe a pick six. But you'll be telling Woody and Idzik their product is not acceptable to their customers. If you're pissed off enough and serious enough you won't even think about going into the merch shops, not even for a highly discounted Geno Smith jersey. Or, you can just call it business as usual, buy their overpriced beer, get some overpriced cold weather Jets gear and sit in your overpriced seat like good little zombies. They're counting on it.
That does nothing either. The stadium is usually 3/4 empty at kickoff anyway. I have had tickets since 1980 and I have never missed a kickoff and it's not happening in two weeks either. I tailgate before every game and rarely buy anything inside. Compared to the $210 for two tickets and the $25 for parking, spending $30 on concessions is nothing. The Steelers will pack that stadium with their fans anyway. It will be embarrassing enough. Please don't tell me how to spend my money. I don't think anyone will misinterpret Jets fans disgust with this season. Staying home or in the parking lot for 15 minutes extra minutes will not change that.
I'm a Jets fan fan from Portland, OR. Do you know how much money I blow to go see them? To get their asses kicked in that shit hole of a stadium in San Diego. Fuck that, I'm sticking to the Blazers.
Nobody's forcing you out of your comfort zone. You don't think Woody would be embarrassed? You don't think he'd have to answer some uncomfortable questions from the press? The slight inconvenience would be worth it to me; I guess I'm not as complacent as some fans.
This is a solid post. What you own already is money spent and you can't turn back. But , don't buy the food, the drink, don't shop at the souvenir stands, and like above mentioned, don't be on time. If I am not mistaken, there was one year where Giant fans did something like this when they were going through a rough period in the 70's. Back then, it was different, no doubt, but they did get a point across to ownership.
and that is another problem.... the huge amount of tickets that will get sold to opposing team fans. Steeler fans always seem to almost own the stadium at Jet games.
