Ok, let me rant for a minute... I'm so tired of people getting paid to give their opinion and sucking at it. They are getting paid good money to just tell people what they think. We do that here at theganggreen.com for fun. I think the day is coming soon when ESPN will be fazed out because of the internet and all of the blogs and message boards. Why should I listen to a pencil neck geek like John Clayton, when I can go on the message boards and discuss it myself?? THEN, ESPN has the nerve to CHARGE people for ESPN insider? Now they are CHARGING people for their crappy opinion?? Seriously, if there was a huge story to report they would report it on TV, not save it just for the Insider. Ok - I'm done - so here's my opinion on the Jets game this Sunday: Jets 28 Jags 20. ...and we will win 10 games this year!!
Problem is, all you did was give a prediction, yet your complaining about people who give more than a measely score. To a football fan, a prediction can be quite meaningless. Gimme some matchups, before you complain about ESPN. Granted I get the point, but you didn't really support your argument.
stop watching i used to love BBTN, but since they started putting steve phillips on, they lost all credibility and i dont watch same thing with Inside the NFL
yep, remember when inside the nfl was a good show. i think peter king made me never watch again,he is a real douche.
I just watch Total Access and ESPNews during the week. I honestly haven't seen Clayton or Salisbury on TV all season.
Your also saying this because your a Jets fan, and you expect them to say everything good about the Jets. But its their job to create every team equal, so any opinion they say about the Jets that is negative your not going to like because......your a Jets fan
While I do agree with the poster that ESPN's anyalyis is weak, but for different reasons. ESPN's opinions are watered down to appeal to a mass audience not to appeal to football geeks. The NFL network now has more information and better anyalysis than ESPN not only because of its narrow focus but because its target auduence is football geeks not the manstream. But opinions expressed on message boards are not any better. IMO you have to read 99 spam posts to read one post of quality. Message boards also encourage stupidity and emotional type responses. There is little to no analysis or disccssuon. Rather there is mass agreement and consoldation of opinons. Message boards have the effect of convincing each other and strongly reject and discourage contrary or dissenting opinons. This has the effect of encouraging homer type opinions and all or nothing type of opinons. Eitehr a player or coach is univerally loved or hated. There is no middle ground or discusson of grey areas. While I enjoy the GG message board I put little credence into the opinons expressed here as most of it is utter BS with little thought or anyalysis. Rather it is mostly noise. The discussion here is not better and the posters here certainly don't have more knwledge than ESPN. Both are bad and amusing but for different reasons.
The only "analysts" that I pay any attention to are former players, and usually only QB's. I dont really like Jaws or Marino or Collinsworth, but for the most part they are on top of shit. Except for the intangibles like injuries, they are pretty good at dissecting the games
I never go to ESPN.com anymore. It seems like anything I might want to read, I have to pay for. F#*% that! Why should I pay extra for something everybody else gives away for free???
That's a great comment there. Absolutely agree with everything you said. I think sometimes people forget how much dross there is on message boards. There is good stuff, and some real nuggets, but a hell of a lot of dross to sift through before you hit paydirt.
Even when the Jet's were Oh and 16 I would LIVE for Inside the NFL. But now it TOTALLY SUCKS ASS. They don't even highlight some of the game (none. zero. zippo. denada). Then they got the black chick doing stand up comedy for 4 minutes. Man I really miss my Inside the NFL. My wife's a stripper so she LOVES watching "The L Word" on Showtime, so this year I never even switched back over to Homebox. First time in over 20 years. If Im willing to watch a Lesbian Chick Flick over Football, you KNOW it has to be baaaaad.
