Anyone who watched the start of this season can tell you how much of a liability Winters was. He got unwarranted credit for his run blocking when it was Mangold who did much of that where the RBs had success running to that area. Aboushi has been fine, I've been impressed with his blocking on runs. The switch should have been made games ago, how our OLine coach still decided to stick with Winters is beyond me. Colon should be put on notice but seems like Dozier is still a work in progress.
Should we be more happy that Aboushi is playing well or more upset that the coaches couldn't realize it despite him alternating reps during training camp?
If you have a bunch of live bodies on the roster, and the Jets have a bunch of people who might be ok at LG, it's kind of inexcusable to keep running a guy out there who is a major liability.
Now if Dozier works out at RG... then Giacomini is the only piece to replace next draft. And RT is not exactly a high-pick worthy of a position for a team with right-handed QB. P.S. That idiot must be Mike Devlin.
my comment was directed at the coaching staff and why we had to suffer through 5 more weeks of winters when there was seemingly obviously a better player behind him on the depth chart
According to the post below which you liked, giving 29 years old 4 year deals was not part of Idzik's master plan as it will bite us later on. Breno is not even good now let alone later. I can't keep up with the rules.
First of all a 29 year old offensive lineman is different from a 29 year old cornerback, and I'm sure you know that. Breno also has less dead money if he is cut.
That's not completely untrue as Winters is certainly stronger. Aboushi is pretty good at position blocking in the running game which is just as effective blowing someone off the ball.
Winters didn't work out, but you used your 5th round pick in 2013 on Aboushi and let him learn from the bench, and now he comes in and looks pretty solid. I wouldn't be shocked if we see the same thing from Dozier next year. Idzik has gotten knocked for his so called bad draft picks, but this is why you have to be patient and give his picks time. - Pryor led the team in tackles tonight and is starting to look like our best player in the secondary. - Richardson is a beast. - Amaro is going to be a fucking monster. - Geno has been up and down but when Decker and Amaro have played he has looked pretty good. Way too soon to give up on him. - Aboushi through 1.5 games has played really well. 2 of his higher picks in McDougals and Evans got hurt before they even got a chance too. For all we know right now these draft classes could end up really good, we just have to be patient though.
