jesus fucking christ. I'm so fucking tired of the Rex ass-eaters on this message board. Celebrating a coach who is 15-27 in his last 42 games, has had eight 3 game losing streaks (and now, one 6 game losing streak) in six seasons as coach, and allows his staff and his players to recklessly make the same boneheaded, game-changing mistakes week after week after week. Loser's mentality.
Rex is a winner. Everyone outside of NY knows that. But I can understand how some long-time Jets fans have forgotten what that means.
The bolded is complete and utter bullshit. The most important and crucial task of the head coach is to get the players PREPARED to play, and while that encompasses making sure that they are motivated, it ALSO includes getting the players ready to play smart, situational football that is conducive to pulling out close games like the one we lost tonight. (and last week, and two weeks before that, and the week before that, and the week before that . . ..)
Oh, we forgot what it means to be a winner??!?!??!?!? Are you fucking joking? You are the one who just made a thread calling for a head coach to get a contract extension who is 15-27 in his last 42 games, is currently 1-6, and within a few short months, will not have sniffed the playoffs in 4 fucking years. And WE forgot what it means to be a winner?!?!?!?!!? Incredible.
I believe his overall record is still 44-43, or something like that. He still has a winning record overall, despite the horrible rosters he's been saddled with. That's amazing and proves what a great coach he is!
"Rex is the only coach who gets praised by certain fans for his team giving up 27 pts on defense and not causing any TO's" -IB
Well that wasnt obtainable this past offseason. I would think if Geno had DJax as a target here he would be performing a little better than he is right now.
Maybe we have smarter fans than the Giants .... recall they wanted Coughlin fired before he won 2 super bowls for them. Rex is in a similar situation, trying to weather the NY storm of the short-sighted shallow masses, the "what have you done for me lately" crowd that fails to look beyond the current standings and accurately analyze the quality of their coach long-term. But we do have some smart fans around here who want Rex to stay, and recognize that Idzik is the real culprit...that speaks to the intelligence of our fan base I would say. In that recent poll over half the fans on this board wanted Rex to stay. Smart.
Nice. You must be one of those sad, lonely 1% of the world's population who call themselves an "atheist". Lost souls...we'll pray for you. But your mean-spirited personal attack aside, what part of my post did you disagree with exactly? Do you have something intelligent to add to the discussion?
the defensive genius gave up 27 points in less than 20 minutes of offensive possession. just because the offense finally performed doesn't equate to Rex doing a good job.
He gets his players to fight hard, there 1-6 but not due to lack of effort, due to lack of talent. This falls on Idzik, Rex is a fighter and he's gotten the most out of them. Sadly he's gonna be the fall guy.
Who are his corners? ....I'll give you a minute to look it up, in fact I almost forgot one of them myself, I think his name is Phil Adams or something like that.....journeyman Darrin Walls on the other side....kind of amazing the Pats didn't score a lot more points than they did given our putrid secondary!
getting players to play hard is only part of the equation. you also need to get them to play well. succeeding with one doesn't negate failing at the other.
