The current Irish DCoordinator came from Rex's staff last year in Brian VanGorder and VanGorder has incorporated overload blitzes for the Irish this year, including finishing the game vs Hogan and Stanford. I would not hire Kelly on the pro level(Or at least be weary) and I say this as a diehard Irish fan. Nevermind the fact I don't want him to leave the program(He's been known to never stay around) but he has a demanding attitude that will rub pro players the wrong way. He's harsh and used to pull guys over and scream at players faces after a mistake(He's cooled off on that extreme to his credit after criticism arose around the country). Fans may like his no nonsense approach but the players are a different story, he holds nothing back. He'd have to take a page out of Chip Kelly and really be a player friendly coach to make it because there are too many diva personalities you have to cater to on the pro level, sadly. As a talent evaluator(He's good at recruiting)? Very good. Offensive game caller? Pretty good. But he will have a personality that rubs the players the wrong way because he sugarcoats nothing to the players and their performance so the fans would like how much he contrasts Rex Ryan. [youtube]
No thanks to Harbaugh!! if he comes here , he will wear out his welcome real fast. But i'm hearing he's most likely gone in frisco by seasons end. I'll take sea's dc or oc. Maybe Gruden. Not too hot on Cowher. And also hearing Holmgren wants back in coaching but he failed in Sea and Clev big time. Sorry Rex, like ya but you are not a head coach!
that doesnt work either..besides the saints signing drew brees it rarley works..the saints were lucky to even sign him because he was coming off of a injury and the chargers used the 4th pick on rivers. the broncos are all in this year with peyton and if they dont win it will be a epic fail becuase they will be searching for a qb also when he is done. you have to draft and coach a qb..build your teams personality through that QB
No one will be bitching about the $20m in cap space we had way back in 2014 when MoWilk, Richardson, Sheldon, and Coples are still leading the league in sacks 3 years from now. Well, I can't say 'no one', this is TGG after all.
Rex put Calvin Pace and Jason Babin on fucking slot receivers yesterday on 3rd down LMAO Rex left Kenrick Ellis inactive but suited up Jason fucking Babin
[youtube] To his credit, he's gotten much lighter since that day and changed his approach up but he still chews up guys for their mistakes. He was supposedly worse at Cincinnati. The ND QB, Everrett Golson in his freshman year 2 years ago usually took a lot of flack from him since he was a game manager for the most part on their BCS Nat. Game run but this year, Golson's spoke back to him in a friendly manner explaining what he saw and what happened and Kelly's listened. You have to be able to speak up for yourself when Kelly chews you out and not back down but of course just not in an aggressive, nasty tone. I know he flirted with the Detroit job last offseason but I think that was to get a payraise from Notre Dame lol. He'd have to take a page from Chip Kelly and be open to making a fool of himself and what not. He's passionate and speaks his mind so the fans would like him.
There is a good chance Todd Bowles and Dan Quinn, two former Jets assistant coaches, will get interviews for head coaching jobs in January. These guys may be of interest to the Jets. I think the GM, HC and OC have to go. I was not in favor of the hiring of any of the three. To this point, none are getting the job done. Well, one can argue Ryan anyway. He did lead the team to four playoff victories. But this will be consecutive year #4 with no playoffs. That is pretty gosh darn rotten. Ryan has no excuses. He had different GMs, different OCs, different QBs, but has had the same results the past four years.
I dont think that it is out of the question to see Kelly realize that college kids need to be taught like that while NFL players do not. It is not a guarantee for him to improve either, I guess you would have to see it to find out. However, getting a coach who has already been a head coach would be nice as we know that he has had success on both sides of the ball and has been required to work with both sides.
I'm sorry. I thought 3 championship games in a row (and still active), including a SB appearance was proven enough. I guess you should start hoping for Vince Lombardi to come back to life, or for us to trade for Belicheat.
Idzik will be able to lure in whoever he wants. This isn't the Jags or Raiders that are completely void of talent. This is a Jet team with a ton of talent in some areas (D-Line, RB, Kickers,), and completely worthless in others (WR, CB). The Jets will have 70+ million to spend this offseason and a Top 10 pick. That's the type of situation that lures in a Harbaugh, Gruden, Cowher, or pretty much whomever Idzik wants.
People said that about Chip Kelly and he has done just fine. I think it's easier to come in from college now. Heck, if Spurrier came in to the league now as opposed to 10 years ago, I think his offense could work in the NFL. I said it yesterday in the game thread, and I will repeat it now. I think Gus Malzahn is coaching this team next year - I just hope he gets to do it with Mariota as his QB...
Rex has two championship games and it doesn't mean shit without having the roster, have you seen San Frans roster?Rex could win with that team to.We should trade coaches Rex would be a good fit over there with the roster they have.Hardbaugh wouldn't be able to win with this roster either no one could, players need to play coaches need to coach we don't have the right cast of guys ,I fucking hate Idzik for this
A lot of the roster issues are the fault of Ryan. He is not without blame on this matter. That is, unless you are going to tell us that Ryan has absolutely zero say on personnel and gets to coach whoever the other guys tell him to coach.
