yeah, i think i'd put him on par with Brees, right now, this season; which would be somewhere right around 7-10. cheers
Based on what they've accomplished (and by that I mean games won and significant games) in their careers, Pennington is behind: Brady McNabb McNair Bledsoe -------- Manning ------ Pennington--Hasselback Palmer Chad trails Manning because of Peyton's gaudy statistics and regular season record, and he's even with Hasselback because Matt's only done it one year. Then, he's ahead of everybody else, specifically Palmer, because he's taken his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs both years he was healthy. Palmer hasn't done it yet. With one Super Bowl appearance, Chad would be #3 on my list trailing only Brady and McNabb (assuming the other guys don't get to the big game ahead of him). Of course, McNair looks like he'll get there before Chad right now.
My top and not necessarily in this order are: P. Manning McNabb Brady Favre (going on his OVERALL career) Pennington Palmer Vick Delhomme Rothlisberger Hasselback Now the 1st 5 names are DEFINETLY my top 5 and the rest round out the top 10
I wanted to say somewhere around 7 or 8, but then I tried thinking of those who I'd rank higher, and there were only a handful. And, really, when healthy, the only thing that takes him down THAT far is his weak-ass arm. 1(a). Peyton Manning 1(b). Tom Brady 2. Carson Palmer 3. Donovan McNabb 4(a). Matt Hasselback 4(b). Chad Pennington 5. Ben Rothliswhozit Something like that.
i keep seeing carson palmer at #2 on here...i understand he will be great and he deserves top 5, but look at what has happened so far 1 incredible year which ended in a career threatening injury sounds very familiar(pennington 02)....but he hasnt even looked that great this year i know the guy has a better arm and better everything but no way can you rank him over mcnabb and brady (implied peyton)
yeah, i totally agree. my reasoning for him being out of Top 5 was pretty much based on his arm strength and big-game performance. just imagine if Pennington had a strong arm...... why is everything EVERYTHING with the Jets always "close-but-no-cigar"? cheers
When you go team by team, Penny is really playing at a higher level than most QBs. Based on current play, not who I would want going forward, I'd have it like this. 1. Tom Brady 2. Peyton Manning 3. Donovan McNabb 4. Carson Palmer 5. Chad Pennington 6. Drew Brees 6. Eli Manning 7. Byron Leftwich
Yeah...Tom Brady isn't even on Chad's level! Now, if you want to see "IF HE'S HEALTHY" then you have to say the same for Trent Green,Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and maybe even Rex Grossman... 1. Brady 2. Manning 3. Palmer 4. McNabb 5. Bulger 6. Hasselbeck 7. Brees 8. Green 9. Roethlisberger 10. Pennington/McNair I have no problem putting Chad right there when he's healthy...I'd be extremely happy if he can finish the season and keep this up. He'll only be 31 next season, with the body of like a 27 year old...So it wouldn't be out of the question for Chad to be the QB of the Jets for the next 2-3 seasons if he's healthy.
The come back vs the Eagles was pretty darn impressive. I actually think Eli is one of the more hated, alon with Vick. Even I respect Vick and believe he's UNDER rated, and I'm a BUC fan! Here are my top 15 QBs: P Manning, Brady, Palmer, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Green, Brees, Vick, Favre, McNair, E Manning, Big Ben, Bulger, Pennington, Delhomme. Those 15 can be rearrange in any order, either way Penny would be between 9-15 anyways.
Yea the comback was impressive, but then you saw what he did the next week in seattle. No way eli manning is even in the conversation right now.
Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Hasselbeck. I guess McNabb maybe also. But other than that? I wouldn't put any other QBs ahead of him.
Manning, McNabb, Brady, Palmer probably consensus top 4, then there's a bunch of guys at a similar level as of right now: Pennington, McNair, Hasselbeck, Brees, Delhomme, Vick, Bulger, Green, Roethlisberger and Leftwich. You could probably break that group down into subsections, but I wouldn't say any of them are a class above Chad on current form. Question comes down to ability over form, or vice versa? If it's form then folks like Grossman, Eli, Carr and Rivers could be looking to be included also.
Which great team did CHAD beat recently? Stats are for losers! The only stat that counts is a " W". How many great defensive teams has he beaten since 2002? IMO he ought to start by willing his team to victory on SUNDAY against a depleted JAX defense minus STROUD and WILEY! No more excuses!
sorry but only WINS are important and the ability to will a team to victory against all odds against vastly superior opposition. Again, you can have form vs ability, I will take 'WINS" any day and be better off!
