Given that Ryan has already announced that Smith will be kept in there, I am thinking the full week of practice with Vick does not begin until after the Pats game. After all, that is a Thursday night game, so it's not a full week. The bye is after Buffalo, so let's see if Vick can show something against the Bills, and then try and put something together for the second half. I know the playoffs are extremely unlikely, but there remains the evaluations and developments of other players rather than the albatross that Smith has become.
Starting Geno is madness. You can't compare Vick's performance to Geno's. Geno had full practice and didn't have to start with a 21 zip deficit. And if our O-line can't protect then surely we should have our most MOBILE QB out there.
It's the right move if Geno stinks you replace him with Vick again. You give the starter a chance to redeem himself before you completely shut him down.
Actually Matt Simms isn't such a bad idea. He could be the guy who could move this offense. Activate him at the last minute on Sunday and go with 3 Qbs.
Yeah I'm not sure why being down 21-0 is a bad thing for Vick? The score doesn't make him miss throws. The OL wasn't there and the WR still wasn't getting separation. Happened with Geno and Vick. I was rooting hard for Vick to show something, anything, but all he did was basically cement Geno as starter this week
Don't hold yer breath... Besides, if the jets shit the bed again, MetLife is REALLY gonna tear into this team like it never has before.
The only thing I would point out is that being down by that much generally neutralizes the threat of your running game. As a result, the opposing pass-rushers get to pin their ears back and fly to the quarterback. But, you are correct, Vick really blew his opportunity. And I have to agree with what many others have alluded to: I almost got the feeling Vick didn't want to be there. His body language was very bad. No energy. No drive. He looked like he was just going through the motions.
Packers Killed us Bears Gave us our toe tag Lions laid us in the casket Chargers close the casket Broncos are about to put us in the dirt Patriots will drop the dirt. R.I.P 2014 season
What are the odds Hoyer hits free agency next year? Id sign Hoyer as a stop gap at qb and build the ol and wrs before drafting a QB Doubt Browns let Hoyer leave though
We'll almost certainly be 1-6 by the time we get to the Bills game, what point would there be to starting Vick then? To hope for a miracle Ray Lucas-type surge to 8-8 (which would be an even bigger miracle this year with all the other problems on this team)?
