I think the criticism of Smith is a bit Harsh. To compare him to Sanchez i think is laughable, let me say this i rooted for Sanchez and wanted desperately for him to succeed, as where Smith i was indifferent to and assumed he would be terrible. Smith is better year 2 than Sanchez was year 4. Under Smith the Jets are moving the ball, yes there having trouble in the redzone which is frustrating, and to this point Smith has had a back breaking pick in each game, but in no way does he compare the what the offense looked like when Sanchez was the qb. we couldn't move the ball and when Sanchez did throw it, most of the time all of us said fuck and held our breath cause we had no idea where it was going. Smith needs improvement but atleast you can see there is a clear path to what he has to get better at, as with Sanchez there was no idea of where to even start. I think expectation for this season was way to high for those that are frustrated. I always looked at this as another rebuilding year and was all about Geno smith development.
It makes no sense to talk about Sanchez. He wore out his welcome here. Playing well somewhere else does not mean he would have done as well here. Sometimes people need a change of scenery. I'm starting to feel that way about myself and NYC, so I can relate.
LT WAS one of the best pass catching RBs, not when we had him. He was way way past his prime. Too many Johnny come lately fans drool over Braylon & Holmes. where are they now? Decker put up better numbers then those guys, and is without question a better receiver. And Dustin Keller? yea he was real great. Guy was just another Jets bust, a guy we traded up to get that was too slow to play receiver and not big enough to run block. But everyone on here loved the guy.
Call me when Geno wins 4 playoff games on the road and is in the Top 3 All-Time in Playoff QB Rating.
Sorry guys but your secondary now is not even close to what it was Sanchez' first two years. As for Sanchez vs Smith, both have a propensity to turn the ball over and that's a killer.
LT was still one of the best pass catching RBs. Sanchez could throw darts and LT would still catch it. What he could do after the catch was not as good as his prime, but still good. Braylon and Holmes were great in 2010, where was Decker in 2010? Kerley? What a bad argument, I don't care where they are now I cared what those players did in 2010 just like I care how the 2014 players are playing in 2014, that's what we are comparing. If you read what I wrote, Dustin Keller was a great pass catcher, definitely ahead of Amaro now.
I'm new to the sport? Really? Looks like Nacho is tearing up the NFL in his new situation. I really believe Nacho sucked while he was a Jet, do you think otherwise? Maybe you should watch a good game of Tic Tac Toe...... EDIT: also to add, if he was a decent Qb, don't you think our current GM would have tried to renegotiate his contract ( the one he didn't remotely deserve ) in an attempt to keep him? Idzik didn't because he knew Nacho stinks. It isn't rocket science.
A preseason game stats against 3rd and 4th string players? Nacho is a seasoned Vet, playing against rookies, and roster hopefuls? I really don't have anything against Nacho the person, but his ability to play Qb at the NFL level, has, is, and probably always will be in major question.
Still you argument points to nothing but blind faith. Meaningless preseason game. Vanilla defenses. It wasn't like he favored Peyton Manning VS the steelers. He looked good a couple times playing for our team in his career, but in the end we all know what he is.
I'm wasn't arguing anything but would be curious to know what exactly you are arguing against as 7/9 for 85 against the Steelers first team is not an argument just a fact.
It is a stat line, I will give you that. What exactly was your point if you were not supporting Sanchez in some way? Fact is, Sanchez and his supporters don't have any ground to stand on in an argument of "Who is better, Geno or Nacho?" Geno is and that is a fact.
The stats was in response to a poster saying if Sanchez was any good he would have beat out Foles. I posted his preseason stats to say if there was an open competition for the Eagles he put forth a good effort. Lastly, you apparently do not know the difference between fact and opinion.
I know the difference between fact and opinion, don't be so silly. I threw mine out there, where as you seem to wanna shroud yours. Still are. The Eagles took Sanchez as a back up, not in an open competition for the starting job. That's almost like you are saying Nacho had a chance. Hahahahaha The poster who said "if Nacho was any good he would have beat Foles for the job" was me. So what's your Opinion? Geno or Nacho?
Didn't mean to seem like Betty White on you there, if I came off that way. I finished off my Chinese takeout. Much better now! Lol I will settle this argument.....at this point it doesn't matter. Whatever shades we can agree on or agree to disagree on, we still aren't scoring enough points.
