IIRC, Saunders had a seizure and had to be escorted off the street by police. That most likely was a grand mal seizure. Reportedly his first seizure or else he was hiding the fact that he had/has a seizure disorder. People with seizure disorders are placed on daily dosages of anti-convulsant medication. These meds have pretty powerful side effects. Mental dullness is the major complaint. So, I'm thinking that Saunders was cut due to medical reasons and it's politically incorrect to make that public.
To lighten the mood: 2 girls in my high school decided it was their turn to streak the cafeteria. They got about half way when one of them just dropped. eee-yup. Grand mal seizure. Buck neked right in the middle of the cafe. First ginger beaver I'd ever seen and it was thrashing around like it got it's leg caught in a trap.
You mean to tell me you wasted a 4th rounder on this guy to just cut him? You could have taken Aaron Murray or McCarron instead!!
Maybe this is just the process- swing and miss but keep swinging...
Pretty Much, but Jet fans think every draft pick should be a pro-bowler. Idzik has no doubt had some misses, but he has also had some great hits so far too that are going to serve us well for years to come. Chris Ivory - We traded a 4th rounder for a last 1st / early 2nd round talent running back. Nobody is better after contact in the last 2 years, not even Lynch. Marty just needs to use him more (and properly). Damon Harrison - Undrafted Free Agent playing like a 2nd round pick, and still getting better. Sheldon Richardson - Some "experts" gave the Jets an F on this draft pick. Then he was the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Nuff Said. Breno Giocomini - Cost half as much as Austin Howard and has been rock solid for us this year. Great Signing. Eric Decker - Payed 7 million a season and he is on pace for a 900+ yard / 8 TD season even with an injury. Everyone keeps bitching that he isn't a #1 receiver but we didn't pay #1 receiver money. We payed #2 receiver money and got a Top 25 receiver. Very good signing. Jace Amaro - Has played 6.5 quarters worth of snaps and is the 3rd best receiver on the team right now and he is only 4 games into his rookie year. Amaro is going to be a fucking stud for years. The dude is going to have 60 catches at TE in his rookie season. If all of our other draft picks bomb this year, this one pick may make up for all of them combined. Milliner - Needs to get healthy but showed flashes last season. Pryor - Been our most consistent guy in the secondary this year. Not amazing but Safetys always take some time to adjust. Geno - Turnover problems are just as bad as Sanchez, but he is moving the ball much better than Sanchez ever did. He may not work out but considering who else was available last year, it still wasn't a bad pick at all. That's 6 good to great starters and 3 guys that have shown flashes but the jury is still out on, not to mention Mcdougal and Evans both had season ending injuries. To add that many good players in our 1st 20 games is actually pretty damn good. If he adds 4 more great players for next year then I don't see what the issue is. Tanny left the team broke and depleted.

Brian Costello @BrianCoz Rex said Jets liked Graham's speed and were happy with W. Powell returning punts so they made the move to cut Saunders. #nyj 13h
Our glaring hole was receiver, not tight end. This was not a great TE draft. But it was definitely a phenomenal receiver draft and we got none if the 10 or so best prospects. Idzik blew it. There's no two ways around it. And Amaro has been solid. I haven't seen anything from him yet that screams Jimmy Graham Jr. Or Baby Gronk tho. So let's not get carried away.
Perspective, thanks for posting.
Amaro might make up for this entire pathetic draft?? What is so great about him?? During preseason when he was clueless, I was an Amaro defender. It was too early to get on a rook. But four games in, I have not seen anything spectacular from him. Is he a playmaker? Possibly, but I have yet to see it. He's been solid. I've seen nothing that we could not have gotten from John Carlson or Daniel Fells. The Giants got a tight end off the scrap heap and he dominated on national tv in the best of increasingly good weekly performances. Now that's impressive. We has SIX picks in the first four rounds of this draft. SIX. That is a franchise changing/foundation building type of scenario. And Idzik totally blew it. Pryor is horrible in coverage. Amaro us solid. And we have nothing else to show for it. This entire regime needs to go.
Surrounding our QB with waiver wire junk in-season for the second straight year. This is not how you develop a QB.
Why doesn't Hakim ever play, wtf is going on with that. Not one WR we drafted has seen a snap this year. This is why I laughed all offseason when everyone kept talking about our 12 draft picks,we should have traded pics 4-12
What did you expect Rex to say, that we cut Saunders because his brain was fogged from meds? Just to be clear I didn't like the pick for several reasons and I'd be willing to bet that Rex didn't like the pick either so this gave him the perfect excuse to ditch the guy.
Honestly, to me Saunders looked scared out there. Might be rookie nerves. But I am not surprised by this. He had Kyle Wilson balls when it came to punt returns
Damon Harrison was a Tanny pick up. He got the name snacks on hard knocks. As you pointed out idzik has made a few good pickups: Geno (he's moving the ball with crap at wr, arm him with talent and he will break out), Chris Johnson, chris ivory, Amaro, Sheldon Richardson although I feel Rex heavily influenced this selection). However he has had his share of mistakes. I won't go through all of them but one mistake that baffles me to this day was his selection of jalen Saunders. Made me question his eye for wr talent. Anyone who watched the draft and saw who was left on the board in the 4th round knew that Bruce Ellington was the wr to choose. Ellington took care of 3 needs (wr, kr, pr). He is explosive and powerful with good hands. Instead idzik waste two picks on wrs that we just knew weren't going to pan out. No excuses. Most talented draft and a good free agency class and the talent we walked away with at the WR position is absolutely terrible. Even his wr pickups today are unimpressive not that I expect him to find anything.
I think we would have put him on IR or something if it was seizure related. But yes I never understood the pick either. We will see if he even earns a PS spot or he goes the route of Tajh Boyd
