Yanno what? Everything I'm seeing out of MM is exactly what my Eagle fan friends told me would happen. They were right. The man really doesn't have a feel for the flow of a game. He may be a genius, but the one flaw in most geniuses is that they only excel in the theoretical, not in the practical.
Same here. I didn't want to believe them based on how I was over Shotty, and Sparano was an embarrassment of epic proportions who should NEVER have been hired (Rex: "He's my guy.").
Marty had a good 1st year for the most part, had some dud games but I was impressed with the game calling. This year has been a massive stepback. Nevermind not having a feel for the game, he doesn't have a feel for the offensive personnel.
Who was the last OC Jets fans liked? I think the players left a lot of yards and points on the field today. 6 drops, 2 turnovers.
Or Jalen Saunders muffing a punt. Or the defense giving up two 90+ yard touchdown drives. Or the secondary getting absolutely reamed by Jordy Nelson. Geno's interception against Green Bay wasn't his fault. I seem to remember you saying as much. Football is played by more than a quarterback. He's made some bad mistakes, yes, but to say everything is completely on him is fucking retarded.
He left the game injured and messed up one play. That's sucking a big old fat dick? Well in that case, Geno must be taking 10k big old fat dicks in the ass at one time this entire season. Ok. Still doesn't change the fact that Geno has 7+ turnovers in 4 games
Geno smith only???? He's not the only issue man. Decker dropped a few passes today. One of them right before the half that would have given us a field goal attempt. Ivory dropped a pass that would have went at least twenty yards and would have put them inside the 20. That was a crucial play in the game. Right before genos pick. 4 false starts. Mangold early snap while geno is changing the play. Defense can't get a damn turnover. We can return a punt for shit. We have many issues not just the play of geno
And it all falls back on Geno. Play calling changes when your quarterback sucks. Defense struggles due to being on the field too long because Geno sucks. Offense is always playing catch up because Geno sucks. It all falls on the quarterback. Turnovers are drive killers. When your quarterback throws for a total of 32 yards in the first half, there are issues
And only three are directly his fault. His interception against Oakland, as said by everyone on here, was a fantastic play by a future hall of famer. His interception against Green Bay was Winters's fault. He couldn't hold his block, Geno got creamed as he threw it, and the receiver made no attempt to play defense on the ball. His fumble today came because someone whiffed on a block and he got hit from behind as he was trying to throw the ball. I'll give you the interceptions against the Bears that were both inexcusable. But they didn't "single handedly lose the game." Saunders muffed a punt that turned into 7 points. Defense couldn't get a stop when it mattered. His interception today was awful. But neither it nor the fumble resulted in points. Once MM started letting him throw it, the Jets moved the ball better than they did the entire game. Playcalling in the first half was way too simplified, and even when Geno made plays, receivers dropped balls. There were at least three first down balls that were dropped. His turnovers have hurt the team, yes. Every turnover hurts a team. But he hasn't singlehandedly lost three games. That's asinine.
However bad Geno is, the WRs are twice as bad. No one can catch shit on this team. Doesn't matter if its Vick or Geno throwing when they just fucking drop it everytime.
