so for the ones that clearly don't understand and want to use any old tv show to mock the name the reason for SONS is WilkerSON, HarriSON, RichardSON. I was going to use some colorful adjectives but I'm feeling good with football being back.
Why not "My 3 Sons" (showin' my age)? "Sons of Katie Elder"? "Sanford & Sons"? "Son's of Frankenstein"? "Sons of Hercules" (found that on Wikipedia)? "A Raisin in the Suns" (ok I embellished a lil')? "Empire of the Sun(s)?(ok, I'm losin' it here-but a good movie w. Bruce Willis)......JETZILLA? (time to go to bed)...... Jus' sayin' !
Because they are xxxxxxSONs and their job is to create ANARCHY and chaos against opposing O lines. Hence "SONs of Anarchy"
You'll need to find a lot more to convince me that more than a few people have accepted this juvenile nonsense as a legitimate nickname. Consensus here seems to be against it.
Who gives a shit about the name..... I just hope those big fellas BLOW UP the pocket for opposing QBs and Babin and Coples come in and cleanup the mess (drive Brady into the ground).......
lmao Please define "established mass market entity" that would meet your requirement. Pretty much every football news source has accepted it. Just because you don't doesn't mean it's not widely accepted.
Why does everyone have a bug up their ass over a nickname? It suits them, I'm sure they embrace it. Stop being grumpy old men about it who are rooting for the Jets to fail all the way down to the nickname of the best part of the team.
I don't go sleep angry about the nickname or anything but I can't really picture myself using the monicure in a casual conversation. Kinda corny but I get that it's cool all their names end in son. If anything I'll maybe refer to them as 'the sons'.
Even a great nickname like Legion of Boom gets old after a while. Nicknames are for ESPN and the newspapers, not for true fans, IMO. I am not sure HOW would use vaginal yeast infection oral pills in casual conversation. I think the word you are looking for is moniker. I don't think you want other board members thinking you have a yeast infection.
Okay, I'll bite. I'd include the top twenty five circulation newspapers in the country as well as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN. I'd include Sports Illustrated and Sporting News and others in their realm. But that doesn't mean any of these or your sources have "accepted" the term. It will take more than a random (snickering) reference to the name to indicate acceptance by more than a handful of juvenile uberfans.
What are the top 25 newspapers in the country that actually cover the Jets? Are you waiting for the Wall Street Journal to publish a front page article about the Sons of Anarchy before you consider it widely accepted?
You are "Jus' sayin' !" but you obviously are not Jus' understandin'. A nickname is not just about the use of a singular word in that name as you have tried to imply, anarchy is a key component of the nickname implying reign of terror, mob rule, hostility combined with the "son" part of the last name of the players. I find it quite disheartening that I actually have to explain this. I don't even use nicknames but to have this thread about people wanting to put it to a vote, others throwing out completely irrelevant names and posters just acting like fucking whiny little bitches on the rag about a fucking name makes me think some posters from other teams may be right about about some of our fan base. Grow a fucking set people, it's a fucking name, use it or don't.
