There is no relief in site for the Jets anemic pass rush, and what that means is until we can draft or sign a free agent passrushing demon, Pennington is going to have to be better than great, he has to be perfect. That means, yesterdays game without the INT, or for that matter, the fumble in the 1st quarter.

It's not fair, but those are the rules for 2006. Next year, by the grace of God, the Jets will put a defense on the field that gives Penny leeway.

Until then, the over/under for a win is about what we needed yesterday,
31 points. A little more than 4 TDs.

Next year, with a good D, maybe that number goes to 21 points.

I think our attention should first start on, "How in the heck do we stop the run?"

Hell yeah....for the most part peyton had a rather average day. But when you have one of the worst run defenses in the league its going to cost...and cost you big.

Replacing Abraham is not going to fix the most basic problem that any NFL team can have: not being able to stop the run.

Every team has run roughshod over us like they're simply mowing the lawn, taking a stroll in the park, or reading a newspaper. It's almost pedestrian. We're going to see a lot more of this as the season goes on, so get ready for some really frustrating games where we just watch the d get steamrolled play after play.

We need to return to a 4-3.

Abraham's groin is always pulled by the way. Do you want to pay a guy big bucks who essentially has a 50/50 shot of being on the field every game?

Run D is a problem, but it wasn't the running game that beat the Jets down the field the last two drives, it was the pass.

Since the Jets linebackers don't seem to be making any big plays anyway, the run defense and pass rush might be best served with more 4-3 play.

    Bingo.

How can you replace someone thats dressed on the sidelines. Abes name shouldnt even come up. Yeah the pass rush is horrible...but the play against the run is whats killing us.

Abe is one talented sob...but that means nothing if the only big play he had was making sure the water was still cold.

Screw Abe. Ellis had 2 sacks yesterday. We got good pressure on peyton until the end Mangini should of blitzed him more. But im guessing he was scared to blitz because he thought it would backfire.

Yep – seeing how Abe is tearing things up with the Falcons really has me missing him. As quick as he is on a rush – he almost looks invisible there. How in the world do you replace a guy who earns a paycheck in one game and then takes the next three off just to keep things interesting?

Abraham never, ever stepped up and helped us win a big game.

I'm just wondering if any of the Abraham fans here ever watched the same games I did. This guy was almost a non-entity, save for a couple of games against shoddy teams and backup offensive lineman. People here behave as if we lost Michael Strahan.

We lost that game because we inexplicably didn't defend the sideline routes at the end and because we gambled(when we should have) and lost. This team is to be taken seriously, and, after what I saw this week and against New England, I think it's safe to say that this team is capable of playing with anyone.

We need an OLB as a pure pass rusher. Like terrell suggs was for the ravens, how arrington was for the redskins and how merriman is for the chargers. The pass rush on the 3-4 derives from a strong fast linebacker. We seriously need to get one through the draft or through free agency. Unless thomas or hobson can get some rush going.

I dont think the poster said we need abe back, he said we need a pash rusher......no doubt our biggest problem is stopping the run....by far our biggest need as a matter of fact...however, the one thing that Abe did once in a while was come up with the huge sack when a team was trying to do exactly what manning did yesterday.....you get that huge sack and for sme reason the offense seems to pach it up almost everytime.......and in a situation where the D is playing a prevent the only way to get the sack is to have an animal that can just blow by the Oline and get it done......but yes gimme some run stoppers first

God dammit - Abe is all potential. He never did shit when it mattered. We were a Herm-brainfart away from beating Pittsburgh with Abe out in a twisted vag.

That dude would hold us back. I'm very happy with the Mangold for Abe trade.

I can't see how one of the top 5 pass rushers in the game would "hold us back" but whatever.

The question about Abraham isn't "would he be helping us right now" because he clearly would--when he's on the field he's a huge difference maker and totally changes the other offense's gameplan. The question is would he be on the field?

and just when will CHAD step up and win a game he is supposed to lose ala BRUNELL yesterday? He is the golden boy but by winning a few games we are not supposed to win, wqe could finish 10 and 6. We have many cup cakes on the schedule and he usually beats them with ease. Now he must be a leader and win two against top teams and we can finish 10 and 6! Check the schedule!

What the Jets need to do this year is go back to a 4-3 and then, maybe if they actually have the personnel for a 3-4 next year, go for it.
