    I stand by my post...

    I appreciate your optimism.
But I have yet to see anything that says Idzik is building anything.

I' hope I'm dead wrong, but I just feel this is a six-seven win team in 2014.

I think the Jets lose to the Chargers and Vikings, split with the Dolphins. Lose to the Titans. They should be able to beat the Raiders and sweep the Bills.

As for playmakers, I was talking the offense. I really like the defense, especially the D-line.
I'm basically expecting the worse, hoping for the best.

Pretty sure SI picked the Jets to win 3 or 4 last year, so let's just say I'm not taking their word as bond. In fact these guys get more predictions wrong than Miss Cleo.

Well, can't put it off any longer. Heh.

I think SI is a bit too pessimistic, but in fairness to them I think the schedule will likely hurt the Jets this year as compared to last. The Jets salvaged last season winning three of four down the stretch, but the opponents imo were quite helpful in that regard. I dont see that happening this year unless they luck out again.

But the O should be improved, and Coples and Davis should be better, and Pryor should contribute as a rookie starter. So 5 wins sounds a bit off.

But we know the CB's will be mediocre at best, and that will only be when Milliner returns. Meanwhile whether he starts or not on Sunday he is not going to be 100%. Facing David Carr perhaps does not sound scary, but the risk is the Jets secondary will make him feel like he really does deserve to start. A loss on Opening Day could be catastrophic for the confidence of this team.

Still I expect a win there, 3-3 at best in the division, maybe three wins in out of the Vikes, Chiefs, Titans, and Steelers (thank God that game is not in Pitt). Prospects in the others look rather daunting, though. Maybe Detroit?

Add it up and the conservative pick would be six wins, but I am going to go uncharacteristically optimistic and say 7, 8 wins with some luck.

    But realistically six wins. Heh.

Of course they might take the reins off Vick and win more than that, but they don't seem inclined to do that. Look for Smith to run up decent stats playing from behind against prevent D's, and the Jets will think that is reason enough to stick with him. Even when they lose too many games.

It's not SI as a whole, it's one writer- Andy Benoit. another has the Jets going to the playoffs.

Looks like that article really pissed off our players. Awesome bulletin board material.

Ha... 5-11 is an optimists prediction. You think we can win 4 more games? Not likely.

Dunno SI may end up nailing it right on the head. 1-6 followed 4-5 the rest of the way seems very likely.

of the games left, MAYBE we can beat the Titans... maybe...

Even the lowly Bills, now that they have Orton, will beat us twice. We are playing for a new HC and the number 1 pick. Sad to say in early October.

Maybe it's wishful thinking but I see us splitting all the division games then winning either at MIN or TEN.

There are a lot of people in this thread that should be embarrassed and should be apologizing. Let's see if they show back up.

Heh, I said realistically 6 wins, and then went optimistic, saying 7 or even 8. Wow. To hell with optimism when it comes to the Jets from now on. "realistically" six wins is proving to be too optimistic.

If they are 1-6 after Thursday then they have 9 games left to play. You figure winning 4 of those games is an improvement over the first half even though the schedule is easier. If they win 5 that means they play over.500 for the rest of the season.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I still wouldn't be surprised if they went 8-8. Persevering against adversity while simultaneously missing out on top draft picks isn't unlike the Jets.

I think counting the Jets out right now is way premature. Rex's teams have gotten destroyed by teams early on and still rebounded to play much better later in the season. It would actually be out of character for the Jets and Rex to quit at this point.

They both quit before the Lions game.
