jets would be insanely stupid to play Milner against the Raiders......extremely, insanely stupid. If they can't beat the Raiders on their own turf without Milner, it's gonna be a long season folks.
I kind of agree with the "we shouldn't NEED Milliner for the Raiders" thought process. Let the guy take that extra week and be a guaranteed 100% back to full power so that he can be all set for the brutal line of pass happy teams that come after the Raiders!!!! It is cool, though...... Your son will have that for a lifetime! You never ever forget stuff like that!
This statement without knowledge of the doctors report is silly. Especially if he is fully recovered. If he is fully recovered, or even 85-90% and doctors don't think re-injury is very likely, you definitely get him out there, if they get a nice lead then maybe you rest him but at least let him get out there and up to speed rather than waiting until the Packers game and have him come in having not played live action for weeks.
Doctor's report or no doctor's report......whatever the case, the Jets DO NOT need Milner to beat the Raiders at home. It's just as much as silly to say 'yes he should play , we can't beat the Raiders wothout him". It's all conjecture here....but with a high ankle sprain I wouldn't take any chances - let him rest against the Raiders. If the Jets can't win this game without Milner, it's going to be a loooooooooooooong season.
If our ability to beat the Raiders starting a rookie quarterback in our building week 1 is solely dependent on Dee Milliner being active then we have more problems than we thought.
I would prefer him to come back against the raiders and possibly play limited minutes than come back rusty against green bay. Sometimes ankle sprains are just as much mental as they are physical and until you test them you really won't know for sure what you can do. I believe he'll get an injection,a great tape job and give it a shot. We'll see.
High ankle sprains can be a bitch and recovery times can vary considerably. To minimize atrophy, more often than not, patients use "aircasts" these days (instead of walking boots ) which can be comfortably worn with one's own sneakers or shoes. There is no such thing as "no further risk of injury" when it come to high ankle sprains and the sooner rigorous athletic activity is undertaken prior to complete recovery, the greater the chance of re-injury or the possibility of chronic issues in the future. Also, walking and even eventual light jogging are not remotely the same as the stresses incurred when cutting or making sharp changes of direction so if he is still limping around, that's not a good sign in terms of him being anywhere close to game ready. Regardless of extensive ankle taping and/or an "aircast" also being employed, certain movements or motions can be extraordinarily painful even at the latter stages of recuperation. In fact, most would prefer a non- displaced fracture to a severe grade high-ankle sprain. Rest and lots of PT in the swimming pool are a great help. In the meantime, no matter how much his return is desperately needed, bringing him back too soon would be a foolish mistake.
I don't know. I just had an ankle sprain from basketball and it took 6 weeks for me to feel full speed. He's really got to feel good about it before he gets on the field. Worst thing that could happen would be us trying to trot him out there and losing him for an extended duration.
I have to agree with this. No need for him to rush back early and increase his chance of re-injury in week one against a lousy team. Just hope he'll be ready for that nasty stretch of the Packers, Bears, and Lions... Get well soon
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...lliners-availability-in-doubt-for-jets-opener Rest assured, if Rex can have him back, he's gonna play him...
It has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not they need him. My point was that to say he absolutely should not play without knowing what the doctor said is foolish. If the doctor says he is ready to go he should play, simple as that. It is ridiculous to keep him out just because you think they should beat the Raiders without him. I see no logical thinking there.
There's a whole lot of parity in the NFL, it's not like college FB. The difference in talent between the best and worst teams is not that great. Taking teams lightly and looking past games is how you lose. It's a game of inches and a many games are decided by a play or two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is great news if it's actually true and Dee wasn't just saying it to make the kid happy. I see what some folks are saying about not needing Milliner, but if he's ready, we should play him. We can't afford to lose to the Raiders with the really tough upcoming schedule. The Jets should do everything in their power to win that game. If he's not ready, then he's not ready, but if the doctors clear him you have to play him.
These reports of him not playing are BS. I have a pretty reliable source that he is going to play. Yes, the source is fansince90's son, but he is legit!
