Seth Walder @SethWalderNYDN 3m Jets are releasing RB Alex Green, per source. #nyj Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 3m Jets released Pantale and Thompson too, I'm told. I'd suspect they'd be back on the practice squad. #nyj Dam,I liked Pantale.
You have to balance competition with developing a young QB. So far the Jets have gone about it beautifully.
I doubt it. We could've brought back Berry this offseason and Pettine is familiar with Hill. Maybe for another corner but I don't think so.
CLE's Gordon just had his ban upheld. Former high draft pick for a guy you're gonna cut, to avoid waivers? I can see them kicking the tires. In Cle Hill's job would be "go long" whole season.
A trade actually makes sense if any team wants Hill. Trade a player you were about to cut for him. Who wants him though?
Berry wouldn't be the worst trade move provided he is healthy. He knows the D so wouldn't require several weeks to get up to speed (like other scrap heap scrubs would). But we need to land someone better as well.
I'm not a fan of a Wilson either and I would put him on the same scale as Hill as far as being a disappointing pick but Wilson is an average corner in the slot. Hill cannot be on a NFL roster that's the difference.
Wilson has never looked worse than this preseason. He has no business being on the field. if we weren't so desperate at CB right now, i think he'd be released as well.
I guess we will find if we gave up to early on Hill. A WR with that speed and size will be picked up by somebody.
If Hill succeeds in the future, it will not mean the Jets gave up on him early. He clearly was not going to work out in Green and White. A fresh start could help him out, but it will not mean he would have succeeded as a Jet.
Really too bad Hill couldn't put it together here. I remember being very excited about him after his first ever game.
"The Jets will cut Stephen Hill if they cannot trade him" Well then what leverage could we possibly have?...
I wouldn't be surprised if a team like Cleveland picks him up. Sign him for a one year deal. They can get him for ridiculously cheap. Low risk option, potentially high reward if he can get his shit together. They've lost Gordon so they've got nothing else to lose and it's not like they were going to be good anyway.
