Do any of you believe Greg Salas could be our number 2 WR?

Salas has impressed and came up big in a handful of situations. At the Green and White game he really did look like the best receiver, although playing with the 2s and 3s.

I would love to see a lineup without Hill. Not in love with Nelson although he gets the nod over hill, good blocks and actually has a bit more threat than Hill does.

Gates needs to get out of Dodge, looks like he trying to run a million miles an hour but he breaks your heart everytime. Geno just needs to stop looking his way, he might be a bit open but its just not gonna happen.

So if I was GM and I was actually giving my competition philosophy I would carry:
    Decker
    Kerley
    Nelson
    Salas
    Hakim
    Saunders

The last two spots need to have ST players and both these youngsters can work on the pointless kickoffs.

Mostly leaving Hill off out of spite, nice kid but come on get a personality, stop looking so depressed, and learn to put some tools to good use. Nothing ever translates to the field with him.

I don't mean to single you out, but I'm really sick of hearing about his blocking ability. Blocking ability for a wide receiver is really an added bonus, it's like having a quarterback that is above average at converting quarterback sneaks. It's not like he's protecting our quarterback like a running back. As a whole if a receiver just gets in the way of a cornerback and lets the back choose a side to cut that's good enough.

Good down the field blocking where receivers are great at getting their hands inside of a defensive back and locking on often result in holding calls anyway as the back passes by the defensive back being blocked anyway.

Salas is nice but i see him more as a #4 guy.

    Decker, Kerley, Nelson, Salas

Not a sexy WR corps by any means, but if the receiving TEs can get flashy, it might work with the running game and Johnson/Powell out of the backfield.

Decker with a true WR and Kerley in the slot would be nice.

Wish we could of dealt for Andre Johnson.

We don't need more than what we have at WR if we can get a real contribution from TE receiving. The running game will take enough pressure away from them if it stays consistent.

What we have to worry about is the passing defense. If the safeties and pass rush can confuse teams from the mess at corner, we may have a chance.

Pass D is our biggest issue i agree there.

I think if we can manage the clock with our run game and not turn the ball over our front 7 can make up for some of the talent on our back end.

The problem is that we'll need more than a run game to manage the clock in this day and age. We've got a solid possession receiver situation, a dynamic running game, but we need the TEs to bridge the gap. TEs are the X factor.

Have to convert 3rd downs. Let's not forget, Geno led the NFL in 3rd-and-long passing conversions in 2013, recording 11 in situations that required 11 or more yards to move the chains on third down.
