This is starting to get out of hand again. It's beginning to resemble the ugly atmosphere that led to the last big breakup on TGG. Could we find a way to agree not to persistently attack each other, particularly in a thread in which every other post becomes an ugly back and forth between two posters?

This is different than the last time of conflict in that it's really focused at this point. Some people just don't like other people and they're going to make that clear almost every time that person posts. In the last thing you had a group of posters going out of their way to gang up on random victims and making the board very ugly in the process. This is not that.

What I do when there is somebody I don't like or find offensive is to put that person on ignore. If I find myself getting nasty repeatedly towards somebody I take it as a sign that *I* have a problem with the poster and I put them on ignore. You can't fix somebody else. You can fix your own interactions with them.

I suppose this is directed at me?

It's not directed at anybody in particular. Just at the board as a whole. People are too willing at this point to attack the poster instead of what he posted. The better option is to put him on ignore and not cause the rest of the board to have to watch the foodfight every third thread or so.

We've had a bunch of threads completely derailed by interpersonal animosity at this point. That hurts the board as a whole.

I feel the opposite, personal attacks spice things up. Otherwise boring threads get some humor(sometimes). In specific cases I think you're right though, it's stupid when it becomes a pile-on every time somebody posts, especially when the person is an obvious/lazy troll(hi soxxx)

I don't have anyone on ignore, although it is a great tool if you really cannot stand someone.

If you've been here long enough you should know how to handle people you dont like...The issue of targeting new posters is where I have had a issue with, which is why I created the thread to have new posters introduce themselves as Jets fans.

I do agree that mods should implement a post restriction before a new poster can make a new thread though...I know Cman called that out on the Jets forum.

I think what happens in the Bullshit Forum, (Which is where I've spent alot of my time on this board, especially in the offseason) I rarely take it to heart.

I do see alot of baiting in arguments, I guess people are bored

Exactly what he said...I know 3rdAnd15Draw likes to curse up the ass at times...Even he and I have had some bullshit back and forth and while back...I cannot even remember. But I think it has alot to do with people being bored and wanting to get dialogue going on one of their favorite boards.

I have several posters on ignore for basically the same reasons you do. The feature works especially well with the new forum software. Unfortunately it doesn't follow through to tapatalk, but still, much better.

There are several posters on the board right now who are obvious trolls and there is no good reason to interact with them unless you're looking to burn some time spinning your wheels. Not that it matters but I suspect the same person is behind a few of those trolls.

I think in the offseason there isnt much to discuss, and there are less posters on the forum. Although this offseason was probably the more active offseason I have seen, definately a lot more discussion which is a good thing probably, because some offseasons things got dead as a doorknob imo.

Would be nice to have the trashtalking forum back so we could take all the vitriol there like in the old days.

Who was it that ruined it for us? Was it vickblows?

God damnit what ever happened to him?

And also since I haven't been around in a while it seems like there was another purge. Can someone give me the tl;dr version of what went down?
