Nice post. Unless Rex and MM unveil some secret offense come September I might be more entertained watching the Ivy League. Have no idea how the team will do but I remain loyally optimistic ie we go 8-8 or 10-6 then earn a playoff spot.
This is the first time in a long time, I've seen the Jets catch that many balls and drop only like 1 or 2. Hope we keep it up.
Looks like Folk has some competiton.Furney hits it from 51 yards on his first pro kick to give the Jets the Win
They'd better have kept most of their stuff under wraps considering they're playing the Colts early in the season. I'm sure both teams dumbed it down even more than usual, that's why I didn't bother watching a down of the second half. Doesn't seem like I missed much aside from the 2nd-string kicker doing his best Folk impression.
Nah we have to stick with Folk, but congrats to Furney. Now he can go to every team in the NFL looking for a kicker and has a nice highlight to show them. Good for him. I thought the offense honestly looked pretty decent considering it's week 1 of the pre-season, especially compared to past years. Like I said earlier today I just wanted to see the team move the football a little bit and for the starting unit to get atleast a field goal. They did that so I am happy. It doesn't matter if it's The Jets or Saints it takes a while for an offense to gel. Happy with Amaro too. He made a couple solid grabs and showed why the Jets got him. He has the best Yards After Catch ability of any of the TE's this year. Hopefully this game gives him some confidence. The big story though is that Patterson is officially a waste of 3 - 4 million dollars that the Jets spent on him. Awful. Just Awful. I would rather McDougal go in there and struggle then see a veteran in Patterson just make a fool of himself out there. The good news though is this is just week 1 of the pre-season. Rex and The Jets have lots of time to figure it out.
That's Hill for you. The guy shows up during training camp and then you put him in a real game and you never hear his name called at all.
I'm not a huge Hill fan but in his defense they never really looked his way at all the entire game. That doesn't bode well for him tho
Son of a bitch! I DVRed the game only to find out that CBS was skipping and lagging all over the place! I dunno if it's CBS or Optimum but I'm about to get on the phone and bitch somebody out!!
The whole team sucked. -It was pitch and catch for Luck and Hasselbeck against our dbacks -Front four generated zero pass rush -Offensive line couldn't protect the QBs or open holes in the running game -A ton of penalties per usual
Decent enough game. Oline looked a little shakey. Good thing there are 3 more of these before it matters.
You really can't take much meaning out of the first preseason game. The big mistakes have three more games to get corrected. The only bad play Geno made was one that can easily be avoided in the future. The defense was running its most basic stuff all night. If it's a recurring theme through the preseason, then I would start to get concerned.
Please stop. If you're going to troll, please burn some calories and be a little creative, that's all I ask. Also, are you from Buffalo or Miami?
First preseason game.........first preseason game...........not the playoffs, the kinks will get worked out this is why they do this
Liked Geno's poise tonight.. He looks more comfortable for sure! Slick Vick is a brilliant compliment. O-line was ok.. Not as bad as people are saying.. Winters is my only question mark.. Hope Ivory has something minor.. CJ showed a nice first step. Harris in mid season form! Millner played well but could of had a ez pick.. Patterson was bad but it's his first shift in Rex's D.. Not worried
Vick really impressed me. Easily the best backup that we could have and he is definitely going to keep Geno looking over his shoulder. O-line. Definitely a concern with Colon but glad to see Winters play OK. Think between Aboushi and Dozier hopefully someone can push him out. Good lord I hope Brick stays healthy because Iljana would be a disaster. DEfensive backs - Patterson says he is as good as the top names but he certainly didn't show it tonight. Still think Walls could be underrated by the coaching staff. Punting - bad. Overall, just glad to watch some real football and see how these guys shape up now that they've got film to keep them in check.
