Youv'e lost your mind. This game just proves how much a difference good coaching can make. We should have won this game against a Colts team that will probably only lose a game or two tops this season. Mangini is rebuilding without a rebuilding year. This team can compete now and I don't know if we have the personnel to make the playoffs yet but we will be in it this year til the end especially since the Pats are the only other decent team in our division. The on side kick was gutsy and a great call. I know he will get killed for not kicking the field goal in the 3rd but I think it was a good call. We were playing the Colts and when you play that team you need TD's not field goals otherwise they will eat you alive. Lets just hope Coles and Houston will be okay and get ready for the second quarter of the season when we have at least 3 winnable games on the schedule and after today we all know we will not go down easy in Jacksonville.
THANK YOU. Honestly I am completely done with these boards, I come home from the bar with REAL Jets fans who are raving about our LOSS today, only to come home and read this dribble. Unbelievable...
The fourth down call was a mistake - you don't beat the Colts by throwing away a sure 3 points. Other than that, he coached a pretty solid game.
I'm wet But seriously – I agree. I’m not even judging this season by wins and losses – we could be 0 – 4 right now and if we played like we have played – I would give him high marks. This team is showing more attitude that I have seen in a while.
I like his style, and I like what we accomplished on both sides of the ball. Very gutsy play calling got the Colts frustrated (Expecially Manning). Very close game, and the Jets are improving every week. Great feeling.
Says who? Did you think that way after the 2003 season? This team has always had more than most people think the past several years.
I agree, Mangini coached above the Jets ability and have made them competitive again. This is a loss that is hard to swallow because they hung in there for so long but a loss I can live with because they hung in there. A few tweaks on defense to be able to hold the Colts at the end and the Jets have themselves a win. And, yes, I like the fourth down call even if it didn't pan out.
You know, if anything, what cost us this game is that KO return for a TD. If we took the ball down the field and wasted clock instead, we'd probably have won. Our defense just can't win us games right now.
I was thinking the same thing. If that guy who had him around the collar brings him down around mid-field I don't think the Colts would have been able to stop us. We eat up the clock score a TD and games over.
Look we cannot nitpick at every little thing... Basically what Mangini was doing was like... Flat out. The Jets do not have the horses to play it safe against a team like Indianapolis. The onside kick, Brad Smith on a trick play, the go for it on the 2...He had to be agressive, it sucks that 1 of his 3 brilliant decisions had to backfire, but I love what I see in this teams desire.
Exactly right. This team can't play by the book against a team like the Colts and expect to win. We had to take chances and we did. Some worked and one didn't.
you kick the field goal there....mangini got cought up in the excitemnet and made the wrong call....do you kill the guy for it? of course not...do you praise him for his guts? nah.bad call......its 14-14 early in the second half,,,,,I odnt care who youre playing, you take the 3
Personally, I liked the call. I was thinking, Damn, a coach with balls. Herm's comment about playing to win the game notwithstanding, I'll take Mangini's approach any day. Play ballz out!
