In my opinion the most indispensable Jet right now is D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Who would play LT if he couldn't go? This is why I HATED losing Austin Howard-he had enough athleticism to get by at that position.
Definitely either Mangold or D'Brick. Most people will probably say Mo Wilk and they could be right, but I guess we'll only truly know until it happens. And hopefully it doesn't.
Please God don't let the injury bug bite this team! In football you're always gonna have to deal with injuries, it's just part of the physical nature of the game. That's why drafting well in the later rounds is so important because you get quality backups that can step in and play decently if asked. But there have been years where it seems like every starter is on I.R. 2005 comes to mind, we lost Chad and his backup Jay Fielder in the same game, we lost Curtis and Wayne for good, and the o-line was plagued with injuries and guys playing out of position all year. So on that note I hope we don't have to worry about injuries for the year. But I think the offense can't stand to lose anybody on the oline, especially when we're already dealing with free agency turn over at that group. We could be starting 2 new guards and a right tackle as it is. The last thing we need to worry about is losing a freshly named starter. On defense I don't think we can stand to lose any of our cornerbacks. We have a lot of question marks at that group when they're 100% healthy. Losing Milliner, Paterson, Wilson, Walls, and/or McDougle would be a huge blow for the defense. That was our weakest defensive group last year, and this year doesn't look to be all that different!
Why would you even create this thread? Now somebody important is going to go down, and it will be all your fault jetfannerd. Thank you for ruining the season.
You make it sound like with losing Howard we lost Brick's backup or potential replacement if he goes down. If Howard was still here we wouldn't have signed Breno. And Howard wouldn't have switched sides on the line if Brick went down if he was already locked in at RT. It would still be the same situation.
If that were true then this season is doomed anyway and the team would need rebuilding. Thankfully it's not.
Id say WR and corner have the least solid depth out of all positions. If Millner goes down we have to rely on Patterson staying healthy and that isn't likely to happen. If Decker goes down we have the same WRs we have had the last 3 years.Decker seems pretty durable so I'm not that concerned that we would lose him to injury. But Millner and Patterson have a long injury history .Odds are in the favor of one of them going on IR
I'd argue that the drop off from losing either of those two would be the least in comparison to the rest of the roster. Decker goes down, Nelson picks up the slack. Milliner goes down, Walls is serviceable. Brick goes down and we have ... Who?
Nelson being able to stay healthy is always an issue he makes me nervous,We don't know what we have in Mcdougle yet but coaches speak highly of him.If Brick goes down then we are in trouble .I'm excited for this preseason game Thursday can't wait to see the rookies
i remember starting a thread like this in 2008, and the answer then was D'brick. ..And that's still the answer today. thank goodness this guy has been the rock that he's been, as we haven't had a quality backup OT (or a RT who could swing to LT in a pinch) in forever. I hope Ijalana shows good promise in preseason, as we've been gambling on that front for too long.
If brick went down I'm putting our all purpose player Sheldon in fuck it!! Will play every second of the game!! Lol
