On behalf of the NYJ, I apologize for not having regular season games already played to prove a point that the defense is dominant.

so why do they feel the need to run their mouths when not so much as a preseason game has been played yet? the last time the jets had the best d in the league was half a decade ago now.

I hope they do have the best d in the league.

Because they're being asked questions. Milliner and Pace aren't PR majors, they're football players walking off the practice field, full of adrenaline and then having microphones shoved in their face.

That's why I don't understand the people who say they talk too much; well it's because we got 40 fucking beat writers constantly hounding them.

If these players were calling their own press conferences and making these proclamations I'd agree, they need to tone it down. But they're not, it's the result of the media askimg enough questions until they get an answer they can write a story about.

This is beginning to sound like a publicity stunt to generate buzz around the team. There's no way any of this could be happening without the blessings of the FO.

And for those of you that love and crave even MORE TALK:

    http://nypost.com/2014/07/28/we-make-people-scared-rex-ryans-brash-defense-is-back/

Now this sort of talk is fine. Nothing ridiculous or outlandish claims to be the best. Just a determined focus to BECOME the best. If the team could just tone down the noise until they actually play and back up all this bullshit they keep feeding the media, they would be better off.

Stop TELLING the world how great you are. SHOW the world how great you are. THEN talk about it.

The other way around is just clownish especially if you don't or can't back it up.

If it were just that we'd hear this shit from every team in the league. Obviously they get it from the head coach.

This defense could be the best in the league if there weren't so many question marks at corner.Tell me what is the plan when Millners hamstring starts bothering him and Patterson is on IR by week 5?

Talk is cheap, especially in July. Rex and his players should understand that by now.

when rex and the team talked big they backed it up the first couple of years, the last 2 years they haven't talked and haven't been good. I don't love trash talking but this gives me a sign this coach and this team are confident and I like it.

No issue with it. Teams aren't going to play harder because they feel insulted by CB's thinking they're the best. Doubt it's a FO ploy. Jets get enough attention being in the New York market.

Jets haven't won SB in almost 50 years. It's not because of the fact they're talking (or not talking). It's because of mismanagement at various levels and not finding 'The Guy'.

All this changes is that Joe Schmoe football fan hates the Jets and thinks they talk a lot. Ok. Who cares?

i used to be in the "dont talk til you did something" camp. then i thought about it a bit. what kind of motivation do you get from being silent? ill give you a hint, its none. let the D talk. D is all about attitude, swagger, being brash, and being a full blown asshole. you dont succeed on D by saying please and thank you, you succeed by sucking the life out of the offense, and the mental game is a big part of it. also, take into account that we are the new york jets, and when someone farts after a good meal, its front page on espn.com and the back page of the post.

By "a while" do you mean hours or minutes?

Because in the Rex Ryan era this has been a common theme. Rex can't shut up and neither will his players.
