I don't understand why you are making this assumption. At his end of the season presser, Riley said,"You don't look for the first exit door when things get tough." His legacy will take a hit if he all of a sudden ups and quit after making that speech.

Riley is leaving. He is trying to leave the Heat franchise in the best possible situation for his final season. It will look good if the Heat make the playoffs and Riley knows it.

Better yet, ill pay money to see a Cavalier-Heat series. Because I think Pat Riley would jump on the court and start coaching himself lol.

There have been talks already that Riley is looking to retire in the next one to two years. Now that LeBron has left, it is likely he retires sooner rather than later..

He's 69 years old. How long do you expect him to do this for? If he wasn't leaving, he would have blown this roster up and took to the draft. Got solid young talent and build a team all over again. But he didn't do that. Why? Because he is turning 70 years old, doesn't have the time to build a team from scratch and he doesn't want to leave Miami in the middle of a rebuild. In turn, he signs his best player left on the roster to a huge contract, resigns an old ass Dwyane Wade, resigns and overpays Chris Anderson, and resigns a terrible Mario Chalmers. Keeping the team somewhat together, maintaining a somewhat decent squad, and riding off into the sunset.

Riley's a dick but I don't see him leaving just because Lebron did. He's still got Bosh & Wade, which certainly isn't bad. Obviously losing Lebron is big, but they could still be very competitive, besides it would make him look like the ultimate hypocrite. You don't have to be young to be a GM, I see him staying another 3-4 years.

Riley stopped coaching because he didn't like the grind of road games and practice, he'd still be coaching if all he had to do was show up for the games. This gig is easy compared to coaching and yes I know he won't do it forever but I just don't see him leaving any time soon.

It's not about coaching. It's about the constant time spent at the stadium, the constant movement of the roster, the constant discussions on contracts, just all the inner workings of a franchise. It's no where near as involved as coaching, but it's a lot for someone who has been in the league as long as he has and who has been involved as much as him. It was easy and fun when LeBron James was on your roster, but now that he is gone, I imagine he will retire and pass it along to someone else. He's won all the rings anyone could ask for and they are not winning another ring for many years, well not with the team they have right now.

Don't forget that Front Office guys have to travel a bunch too. Sometimes even overseas.

Wiggins will be legit...He has that stellar defensive ability...He may end up more like Kawhi Leonard then the next Lebron/Wade/Melo though

Thats what I think. Ive heard him compared to Kawhi and Pippen due to his defensive abilities.

I can't even listen to CBS Sports Radio right now. They're talking 100% about the Soccer who cares results, and Lebron James. NOT the NBA, Lebron, and only him. Fuck that./rant

I guess we'll have agree to disagree because he's going to take this as a challenge to build a competitive team after the country has left them for dead and it's not just him, Andy Elisburg is his right hand man and numbers guy.

When Riles is hosting a FA they come to Miami, LeBron was a special circumstance. He doesn't travel with the team during the season, for a guy who was a workaholic when he was coaching this is role is a cake walk.

The only show I listen to lebatard has been awesome even though it was one topic for the past 11 days...

    Amazing shows from one topic.

Much better than off season nfl talk which is boring.

He's a better shooter then Leonard coming out of the draft. Wiggins will be a special player if he can improve his ball-handling skills. To me best case scenario he's Scottie Pippen.

How crazy would that be if he does become Pippen.

I'm interested if he can achieve his full potential with Kyrie on the team. Kyrie does love to have the ball in his hands.

Its going to be interesting trio but I think it can be more successful the Heat's big 3. (which is a bold statement because essentially they would have to win 3 titles).

Irvings only 22, Wiggins is 19. So the Cavs essentially have a strong nucleus for another decade. Lebrons window in Miami was shorter because Wade was older, now hes on a team where the two other guys are much younger, and should only become better and better while Lebron slowly comes back down after peaking.
