I didn't watch, but apparently they were pressing because they wanted to make up the goal differential. Instead, they got outscored 3-0 by Crystal Palace in about a 10 minute span. Amazing stuff.
Ridiculous play by liverpool , they would not made up GD unless playing the long john silver impersenators , get the 3 points and force man city to win at least one of two remaining games
Yea I stayed home today to watch the game. There was 8 goal difference between Liverpool and Man City. Not sure what they were thinking. Okay I understand 3-1 but after that goal, they should hit the breaks, cool the game down and settle for a W. Still pretty angry.
Rodgers made the wrong substitutions. And he really lost a grip on the match. BUT, with all that said, all year we have had a horrible defense. Sure, we have scored a lot of goals, but we have also let up a lot (especially late in games, giving up clean sheets). Having said that, there were lots and lots of opportunities for the score line to have been somewhere around 5+-0. They were getting cute, being relaxed, over passing instead of taking the shooting opportunities they had. Decide, either score or kill the clock. I can't see Man City losing it now. All in all, great season, but heart breaking.
I agree, it was too far out of reach. Now Manchester City has it basically locked up due to the draw. Home against West Ham and Aston Villa to finish the season for them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27288746 Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says his side's chance of winning the Premier League has gone after the 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace. The Reds blew a 3-0 lead at Selhurst Park and now top the table by a point from Manchester City, who have a game in hand and a superior goal difference. "There is no doubt Manchester City will go on and win it," said Rodgers. "We needed to win to keep the pressure on going into the last game and we did not do that." Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was left in tears following the draw at Palace. He was consoled by skipper Steven Gerrard, who put an arm around the stricken Uruguayan and waved away the television cameras.
Russian Premier League - 25945-25946 - Dynamo Moscow vs Zenit St Petersburg match was stopped in the 87th minute due to crowd violence with Dyanmo Moscow leading 4-2.
Ahhh what a heart racing great final between Arsenal and Hull City. So proud of the gunners today finally bringing the trophy in! Man did they basically look like ass the first 10 minutes, and Hull City really played with their hearts out. What a incredible game, which Mertesacker almost blew away. I hope this win fuels major $$$ into the team. We need a ton of improvements on Defense and another legit striker. What a victory for old man Wenger. Go gunners!
Atletico Madrid are the Spanish La Liga Champions for this year. What a game against Barcelona. Such a good day for me.
What's pretty cool about the this from Hull's perspective is that despite finishing in 16th place only 4 points shy of relegation they qualify for the Europa league as Arsenal qualified for the Champions League so their Europa Spot (which belonged to Wigan this year) went to the 2nd place team from the FA Cup. This also happened in Portugal as Rio Ave will play in Europa as their opponent in the Portuguese Cup Benfica are in the CL. Let's remember Sevilla finished in 9th last season but won the Europa League this year although both Hull and Rio Ave are garbage so will likely be out long before that but I could see both make the group stage as their opponents are usually teams from Malta, Moldova and Azerbaijan in the early stages.
I don't completely understand the rules, but best I can tell, 4 from the EPL go to Champions, and 3 go to Europa. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/who-qualifies-to-play-in-europe/ And if you make the FA Cup final you automatically qualify for Europa. Also, I was reading Hull City is not in good financial shape.
Yes by virtue of Arsenal winning the FA Cup but qualifying for CL they go to CL because it's bigger than Europa, sorta like the auto bid in Big West going to a 2nd place team by winning the conference tourney and the regular season champ going to the NIT. Well except in this case Arsenal already had an at large locked up. From England you'll have in the CL City Liverpool Chelski Arsenal Europa Spurs Everton FA Cup Champ (last year was Wigan despite being relegated) but because the FA Cup Champ is in the CL it goes to the other team. Now I wonder what would have happened if say Arsenal beat Chelski in the FA Cup, would they take the 7th place team?
What not to tweet when you're the son of the head coach... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...um=referral&utm_campaign=programming-national
Pochettino appointed Spurs manager Yes, good hire. Southampton played a very attractive and effective style. Spurs have just been lost for the past couple of years.
no Landon is a terrible call. The guy deserves to be on the team on rep alone, don't care if he's a half step behind anyone...............he's clutch, you can't replace that.
The issue is that in order to get Green who does not deserve a spot away from Zee Germans they had to promise him a spot on this years team. I would assume Johannson was similar with Iceland (although he has looked really good). Green has a world of potential so if the US somehow survives and 4 years from now Green is a stud it was a good tradeoff. If Green turns into another Bobby Convey or Freddy Adu then it will implode in Klinnsman's face.
