Thank God. I think that Katnik got so overrated on this site over the offseason that the coaching staff started to listen--that's the only explanation I can muster for his inexplicable playing time. Any FA scrub would've done a better than Katnik did filling in for Kendall.
he was a stopgap. they had no illusions about him. they just feel that either wade or trey is ready to step in so out he goes.
And i was like omg weeeeeeee! That's good news man. We actually have some guys who can play other line positions now on the offense.
Katnick is full of himself.....He thought he was great stuff because he made the Jets starting line-up....thats why Mangini cut him.....(from someone I know personally that covers the Jets)...
Norm Katnik...Never saw him play before this season, though posters were drumming him up a bit. Actually, from what I saw, he has played pretty well. He looked much better than Kendall...thats for sure. I'm glad Jets' resigned him to practice squad & another team didn't get him & develop him. The guy just needs to put on some more weight & get stronger...he has a good future & can be a very solid lineman. Don't let N.E. or Denver get him...he'll play the next 10 years.
I profess ignorance to whether Katnick is a good player or not. I didn't really watch him that closely. Is Katnik a good pass blocker and thus partly responsible for the passing game's resurgence? Is he a poor run blocker and thus partly responsible for the team's crappy running game? Is he both? I don't know, but I sure hope Mangini knows, because if he is any good, I guarantee Tennessee, Buffalo, and New England will look at the tape and take him off the PS. The PS is an illusion of safe keeping.
Forgive a newbie but.. I find the whole concept of swapping players between teams during the season to be quite odd. Not something I have seen in any other sport. Does this continue all season?
