Vick has 129 turnovers in 110 games. I just do not see how this would end well.

Funny people pretending they are so badass for wanting to root for Vick. There's nothing wrong with standing up for something you believe in. And excuse me if some of us believe fighting against animal cruelty is more important than football.

Bad ass for wanting to root for him? LOL

No, I just like the guy's playing ability and like him as a player, to which I root for.

If you want to base your opinion on players on their criminal background, then you should find another sport. Michael Vick is not the only one in this league that people root for who has committed a serious crime.

He's an extremely talented athlete. I just don't want him on my team for personal reasons. It's not like he just made a bad decision once. He actively chose to torture and kill dogs multiple times.

Its all politics, I personally believe he did his time, he has been humbled, and I have moved on. If you want to hold it against him, you have every right to, its your decision.

And I get that, but to sit here and call the people rooting for him "funny" and "pretending to be bad ass" is just wrong.

You may not be rooting for him, and that's your position, but other people are rooting for him no matter his past. If you based your opinion on someone because of their past, you will have a tough time rooting for a majority of people in the league. He did his time. He is now back in the NFL and has a huge upside in the right situation. If he is on the Jets, I will be rooting for him every single Sunday if he's playing.

I got so much flack for saying as much in the thread I made about offseason direction. So far I'm 3 for 3 according to the reports so far, extending Howard and Cumberland and bringing in Vick.

He is a physically talented individule. Honestly he is one of the more exciting players to watch. Unfortunetly he is a crappy QB ... look at the numbers .. they don't lie.

He's the only player I've ever heard of being convicted of animal cruelty. Of course there are alot of other players with big time criminal backgrounds and a couple that have served time. There are also a lot of fans that really have no issues with dog fighting or tortre of animals...

We've got a good chance at signing Vick. The bigger question here is, who gets #7?

This may be accurate be he sure as hell is not the first player to have a criminal background. Is a crime committed toward another individual less of a crime than one towards an animal?

So you're telling me a guy like Ray Lewis who was on the verge of being sent to prison for murder can be loved by all because his crime was not toward an animal? Whether Vick did it or not and whether Ray Lewis did it or not is the past. Vick served his time and has been forgiven by a majority. Let it go man.

From a football standpoint, I could see why MM would like to have Vick on the roster. Trying to recall stories of when the Eagles went to Foles this year, Vick seemed perfectly fine with it and never caused any controversy with Foles out there. If Vick understands he will compete for the job and if he gets it, it's not guaranteed to be a wait and see, I would be interested in him on the team. I just don't think he would come cheap. I could see a more desperate team offering more than his value in FA.

I do think we need to bring in a QB that can either start if Geno isn't prepared to start or fill in if Geno regresses during they year. I think Vick fills that role and has past experience with MM. I'm worried about his injury history, you really don't know how long you will have him starting. He opens himself up to a few big hits a game and hasn't really changed his game to avoid that.

Were you describing Vick or Geno?

So you call people who believe animal cruelty is a more important than football "shit poor fans". What's wrong with me calling people who don't care about animal cruelty "shit poor human beings". I love the Jets and I've suffered as a fan all 26 years of my life. But that doesn't mean I have to root for them if they are starting a player I despise.

No, I never called you a "shit poor" fan because of that. I said you are untitled to anything you believe. The problem you don't seem to realize is that you are calling people like myself, and others who are rooting for him, "shit poor fans" because you seem to come to the conclusion that we also accept animal cruelty. That's an ignorant way of thinking. I never once said I believe in animal cruelty nor do I ever advocate it, but because I like Michael Vick and root for him in football does NOT make me a supporter of animal cruelty.

When did this argument about signing Michael Vick turn into people not caring about animal cruelty? Because I like Vick I now believe in animal cruelty? Makes total sense.

All of these are reasons I cited for why we might sign Vick. Why do people on this board argue for no reason other than to be negative?
