It's official! The Jets get the 18th pick in the NFL draft this year. I just wanted to announce this news in the Jets forum, though in-depth discussion can be had in the Draft forum. Strength of Schedule is the main tiebreaker... that's what brought us from potentially 14th all the way to the 18th. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/24391464/nfl-draft-top20-order-is-official TEAMS // W // L // T // SOS 1 Houston Texans 2 14 0.559 2 St. Louis Rams (WAS) 3 13 0.516 3 Jacksonville Jaguars 4 12 0.504 4 Cleveland Browns 4 12 0.516 5 Oakland Raiders 4 12 0.523 6 Atlanta Falcons 4 12 0.553 7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4 12 0.574 8 Minnesota Vikings 5 10 1 0.512 9 Buffalo Bills 6 10 0.520 10 Detroit Lions 7 9 0.457 11 Tennessee Titans 7 9 0.504 12 New York Giants 7 9 0.520 13 St. Louis Rams 7 9 0.551 14 Chicago Bears 8 8 0.465 15 Pittsburgh Steelers 8 8 0.469 16 Baltimore Ravens** 8 8 0.484 17 Dallas Cowboys** 8 8 0.484 18 New York Jets 8 8 0.488 19 Miami Dolphins 8 8 0.523 20 Arizona Cardinals 10 6 0.516
It's really stupid BAL and PITT pick ahead of us even though they beat us EDIT: I really don't know who we pick. A safety or offensive player suits me.
It's kind of bullshit that Jets had no chance at the playoffs yet they pick behind Baltimore and Pitt. Be consistent with your formula NFL. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
I vaguely understand the draft rules. I know it's based on "strength of schedule". So they're saying we had a tougher schedule than Pitt and Baltimore?
As I said in another thread we're in that prime Tight End territory where teams (like us) who have a need feel comfortable taking one. Hopefully teams who need TE's like the Bills, Steelers, Ravens, or Giants wont pick one and we'll have a chance at getting someone like Amaro or Ebron.
Before we pick at 18 it's possible that the 5 QB's who have 1st round grades will be gone. 4 of the top 5 are desperate for one and it's an outside shot St. Louis may trade out of that slot to another team that needs one like Tennessee or Minnesota since they also have pick #13.
Seeding really should be based on a cumulative of the last two or three years to even out the variances and reduce intentional tanking.
I think we take a QB, but no way we take one in the 1st. If Lee/Watkins/Evans are all gone by our pick (a real possibility), I wouldn't be against taking a safety or OLB if the value is there.
which would effect us how exactly they had already agreed to bring Rex back and while I was happy we won we still have huge talent needs picking 11th would have been sweet which would have been prime position for a top skill player
Have you been watching the draft recently? 11th pick or 18th pick...Who really gives a shit nowadays? Unless this is about a top 3 pick your case about a skill player is...GARBAGE. Shelden Richardson, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Revis, Mo Wilkerson...ETC...ETC...ETC...
The draft has been based on strength of schedule for as long as I can remember. This is not the first time the Jets had the same record as another team. Get over it.
