Patriots | Seau fined $7,500 for hit on Pennington Fri, 22 Sep 2006 23:32:47 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New England Patriots LB Junior Seau has been fined $7,500 for a hit near the knees of New York Jets QB Chad Pennington (calf) during the Week 2 game. Seau was flagged on the play for roughing the passer and Pennington suffered a slight calf injury on the hit. That hit was not needed at all. I am glad he was fined, and hopefully Pennington is okay. We all know Chad is a trooper. Even after the hit, we almost came back.
Seau has always been a jerkoff, it was just easier to like him when he was busy losing with the Chargers every year. Once he arrived in Miami, he started letting his true colors show. (Honestly, instead of the Pats, he would have fit in much better with Oakland. He has all the qualifications, he is a has-been, over-aged, dickhead who should have retired already.) Good for him. I'm glad he got fined. There was no reason for the hit.
Seau has always been a class-less piece of $h1t. Between has off-field comments of gays to his cheap on-field hit last week, this guy has proven he is an absolute ZERO. Not to mention his joke of a retirement ceremony.
i hate him that shouldnt be allowed, to me it seems like he faked a retirement to get out of his dolphins contract
Seau should have STAYED retired. He's like putting a bald tire on your car ,,, washed-up and only OK to get you to the nearest gas station. His Head Coach turned out to be a jerk also.
Personally, I didn't think that hit was illegal. A QB is fair game if he doesn't slide, and Green waited too long to start sliding. You can't start sliding because you're about to get hit. You have to slide in order to not get hit. If they let QBs slide whenever they wanted, eventually one would fake a slide and run right around a guy who doesn't want to cost his team 15 yards & himself 7.5 large. In answer to your question, he was not fined.
No because the NFL determined it wasn't his fault. They said he got pushed from behind into Green. I don't buy it and think he should've been fined. But Seau's hit was definitely a cheap shot
I watched it a couple times in slow-mo, and not only does he get a hard shove in the back, he turns his body so that he hits with the shoulder not the helmet. As bad as that hit looked, it would have been worse if he hadn't tried to spin out, it would have been helmet to helmet.
yea seau is a benedict arnold bastard...retires and then 2 days later signs with the patriots? if i was on miami i would look to drive it down his throat
I remember reading that Seau was literally dancing to the pregame music before the November 2002 meeting between the Jets and SD since he expected the Chargers to smoke the Jets. The Chargers were tied for the best record in the NFL at the time. Instead, we beat them silly. I hate Seau. TBTF
Seau put me over the top with his "retirement" press conf...I mean, sermon. I wanted those three minutes of watching ESPNEWS back. It would have been 30 seconds, but I had to keep watching to see how much of a train wreck it was going to be. Anyway, screw Junior. Clown.
