Clearly....especially considering how Janssen squared his left skate to the puck and kept his left ankle turned outward throughout the play. For example, when a guy looks to give a goalie a "snowshower" they pivot with both skates parallel to each other. In Janssen's case, his right skate lags behind his left skate in terms of turning outward. No he didn't use a kicking motion, but he pretty clearly steered it in with his left blade....hell, he semi 'roofed' it. Stahlman's needlessly sloppy breakout pass at the end resulting in a turnover resulting in Cally's reckless high sticking resulting in ..... ugh.... Cursed that game. Got to the bar and it was 2-0. Then that d-bag kicked the puck in (Come on, he angled his skate to put the puck right in. There's no way that should have counted!). Devils fans were super obnoxious.

I did not see the jansen goal or the game. But from what you guys are describing, th egoal should count, You ARE allowed to direct it in by angling your skate. You cannot use a DISTINCT kicking motion, Sounds like he didnt do that. again, I didn't see it but from what you guys are describing, and according to the rules, its a goal

MR, here is the rule Rule 49 - Kicking 49.1 Kicking – The action of a player deliberately using his skate(s) with a kicking motion to propel the puck or to contact an opponent. 49.2 Goals - Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official. A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player’s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident. The following should clarify deflections following a kicked puck that enters the goal:

jonnny...have to agree with these guys bud..not only did he move his skate toward the goal...the puck ended up in the net about 2 feet high. It was pretty obvious. With that said, I have given up on trying to figure out what is a goal and what isnt because I have seen this before. Call the game Sockey instead. Why they changed that rule to even open the doors for goals like that is nuts. Jannsen knew exactly what he did. He was skating around and kept looking at the officials right after the goal with the corner of his eye like a kid cheating on a test from the kid next to him. Again, nobody should be surprised by the call..you have to actually wind up with your leg and call which corner of the net you are aiming for to disallow those goals now. Now..for the life of me...no matter what mitch dumstein says I never agree with and I agree with your assessment of him totally. Could be the most annoying poster to ever sign up here.
